Contact Lens Wearers - What's your current brand?

Miss Mix Jr. just got fitted for new lenses - has a pair of Oasys as a trial. EyeDoc said “Accuvue 2’s are being phased out…”. Funny, I’ve been hearing that for years - and I’ve been wearing them for about 10 of those. Often try the latest/greatest each checkup, but they never feel right.

Whattya got?

I love my Air Optix, and so do a lot of other people. (Not mine, theirs.)

ditto. I’ve been using them since they were called Focus night and day.

Comfortable, and not too uncomfortable to leave in overnight if you’re into that sort of thing.

Air Optix too.

Best I’ve ever had: the ability to leave them in at night makes them life changing lenses.

One of them is a toric, and I feel like I’ve got G.I. Joe’s eagle eye when I’ve got it in.

They say you can wear them 24 hours, but I just wear them for 12 and then twice as long!

Accuvue 2.

I switched to Oasys and absolutely hated them. Terrible burning in my eyes. I had worn contacts for 10+ years and never had a similar problem. So, I switched back.

Air Optix brand Night & Day 30-day lenses. Being able to leave them in for a month straight is so very convenient, and they’re very comfortable, at least for my eyes.

Biomedics XC. I was having a lot of trouble with my previous brand, Accuvue I think, and getting a lot of scratchiness. The doctor suggested these, and they’ve been nearly unnoticeable. They’re 2-week lenses, not monthlies, though.

I wear Biofinity extended wear lenses that you can wear 24h/day with for up to 30 days. Best I’ve tried yet.

I have tried the Biofinity too and for me they’re not a patch on Air Optix Night & Day. I still have two pairs languishing in a drawer somewhere.

I’ve only been wearing contacts since November or so, but I’ve had no problem with my Oasys lenses. I’m pretty sure they’re what my brother wears as well.

OP, if she’s not happy with her new ones, ask for a bunch of trial pairs. They should provide you with at least 4 different 2 week trial pairs (provided she doesn’t have severe allergies and needs day/night ones or as an astigmatism and therefore needs torics, etc etc).

No matter what, if your insurance doesn’t cover all of her lenses buy the extras online from any of the major sites (I like VisionDirect).

I use Daysoft. Super cheap dailies, verified as good by my eye doc, so I’m thrilled. Works out to be less than most major other brands when you factor in the cost of solution (I always used the best rated).

Before Daysoft it was Biofinity, which I hated. Before Biofinity it was…something I can’t remember and before those it was the old fashioned Torics.

Everyone should be checking the Staining Grid to see which brand of solution is best for their lenses. Clear Care is the best overall.

My daughter and I both use Focus Dailies. I love getting a new pair everyday, always clean and they feel great in my eye. I used to wear extended wear, I think they were 02 Optics. They were fine but they would get protein build up on the lens, so I am much happier with the Dailies, with the exception I can’t see if I wake up in the middle of the night until I grab my glasses.

After many years I developed a sensitivity to Accuvue somehow. They felt like they wanted to jump out and made my eyes maddeningly itchy.

Doc switched me to Proclear (CooperVision) and it’s working like a charm so far (knock on wood).

Air Optix Night & Day is actually what I used before. I had some problems with them irritating my eye for the first couple of days after changing, something that hasn’t happened with Biofinity yet.

Acuvue 2, usually because that’s what’s available and it’s cheap. OD also gave options for Purevision 2, and a third brand which has like 20 different names online so I don’t know what to call it.

Ah ha! Purevision! I used those after Biofinity and before Daysoft. They were excellent. Biofinity would get deposits by the end of the period of use and I’d have to use a protein remover like Opti Free Supra.

Purevision lenses are great. But I definitely prefer Daysoft; you can’t beat the price of dailies and when ya factor in Opti or Clear Care use with Purevision or other newer generation lenses it’s nearly the same price.

Plain Purevisions were what I used before. I wasn’t impressed with the Purevision 2 samples I was given, kept falling out and itchy. Perhaps I should buy some again, and they’re 1-month versus 2-week for the others. By the way, anyone know what is the difference between Purevision or Acuvue 1 and 2? New model? Asymmetric?
