Contact with the Great Beyond--Psychics like Praagh

Lekatt,
I don’t know how to ascertain with certainty what your motivations and thoughts are; however, it does seem as if you are engaging in deliberate sophistry when you argue over the differences of words that could easily appear together as synonyms in thesauruses, ( and thesauri).
Giving you the benefit of the doubt involves believing that you could benefit from some communications/ writing courses.
You still haven’t answered the question as to how the difference between psychic skill and random chance is determined since psychic skill comes and goes.

Leaving aside the issue of your earlier apparent position, it now seems that you do not claim to have psychic ability. Which leads me to the following:

[ul]1. you accept that some claimed psychics are frauds

  1. you say that some claimed psychics are not frauds but are true psychics, Praagh and Jon Edward in particular

  2. we have asked how one knows a true psychic and your response has been “it takes one to know one”.

  3. you now say you do not claim to have psychic ability

  4. how do you know Praagh or Edward or any other claimants are psychics, since you say that it takes one to know one, but you are now adamant that you do not have psychic ability?[/ul]

You can all sign up to attend Spooje’s Spiritual and Psychic Academy!

The training is vigorous. The test’s are pretty easy though.

For the tests; if caught talking to the dead about a particular answer-is that cheating?

What is the Woody Allen joke?

“I was caught cheating on my metaphysics final. I peered into the soul of the boy sitting next to me”.

Something like that.

So…you are saying everybody dies stnading up?

vanilla, sitting down.

Yes, you all die stnading up. Why is that so hard to understand?

so…if we all sit down, we’ll never die!!!:stuck_out_tongue:

spooje, always reclining!

No, but on occasion you’ll suffer back spasms.

You seem to be missing the point that it’s the same fucking thing. Read that definition again, even just the first five words will do: “to state to be true…” I don’t know how we can put it any more simply to you, but I’ll try; Making a statement is synonymous, in this case, with making a claim. There is no difference. If you make a statement about your psychic ability, you are making a claim about your psychic ability. Why are you wrongly arguing pointless semantics? Other than possibly trying to distract us from the topic at hand?

How about we all take a step back and breathe. Leroy, restate your case in the clearest possible manner you can. Kay? From scratch.

Does the term “glutton for punishment” mean anything to you?

I apologize if I gave you the idea I was calling you homophobic. My statement should have been worded as "he uses the word skeptic the way other people use the word “faggot.”
In other words, as an insult.

Beyond that I stand by my posts.

I think your idea is great, I have been planning to end my participation in this thread with a statement as to why I entered and what I had hoped to accomplish. It will probably be this weekend before I have time to write it, nothing big, just the main points. My time is limited to helping others through my site and full time work. It is hard to find time here.

Love
Leroy

I probably would not be too interested in hearing a restatement of Lekatt’s case, because I have heard it a dozen times before. It will be a glossy overview, which avoids giving answers to any hard questions.

Now if Lekatt was interested in answering the numerous questions we have asked, once and for all, I might be interested, but the temperature in hell is as hot as ever, and signs of the big freeze are totally absent.

I dont believe in most psycics, like Miss Cleo or Dionne Warwick since they did not even know they were about to be arrested.

But I saw a man on Larry King 2 weeks ago, who took lots of calls from viewers, and “if” the “entire” show was not a lie and staged(which I dont believe it was), with Larry King cooperating, then this man was VERY impressive and gave lots of details to callers which were right.

From the transcript archive, I’m guessing that was the Jan. 10 interview with James van Praagh, one of the people named in this thread from the beginning.

Here is the link to the transcript.

So, Susanann, if the link Photopat supplied is the correct one, have you read this analysis of another Van Praagh session?

Have you read any other parts of this long thread? If not, I suggest you back up and check it out.

This is indistinguishable from a cold reading. JVP delivers some classic lines that were counted as hits by callers and king. For example:
“I don’t know if they left a son behind also?”
“I don’t know if you some old school books of hers or old coloring books of hers. There’s something about having old books of hers and their in a box…And I don’t know if you recently went looking at these in that box. Do you understand?”
“I don’t know if you had to redo the roof on that.”
" I want to ask about the anniversary, which either is coming up or just past. You understand about the anniversary coming up?..I don’t know if it’s the death anniversary, but there’s a wedding…"
It appears that I’m in the wrong line of work. That ain’t workin’ That’s the way you do it.
