And so was I, but even the word “computer” appears infrequently in the four googled cites, and I find no mention of a computerized text comparison.

Still can’t understand why this is so important, but I was discharged in 1962. I remember the hurricane like it was yesterday, but not the date it happened. If I had to guess it was Audrey. There is a previous post to that, it seems to be in the time frame I remember. After all it would be in the spring or the fall. Those posts saying July are really off the wall and come from nothing I said. Just more “made up” material in an attempt to make me look bad.

You know I do have an honorable discharge and other awards, but I will just let you guys have your fun. You dig yourselves deeper and deeper with each post.

Actually, it’s not that important, Leroy, in my opinion, except for a very good example as how eyewitness reports can be less than perfectly accurate.

What I still want to know is about why you think the epiphany you had was a near death experience.

So, Audrey was June 1957. No snow within a few months of that.

What am I supposed to find out? Alone, it’s merely a slab of words, which may or may not be true, and I haven’t got the training to do some kind of style comparison with other works. What would I gain by reading it? (Keeping in mind that I have no reason to believe what it says and implies.)

This is also important because it has direct bearing on the value of unsubstantiated peronal testimony.

There isn’t enough information available to me to make a distinction between you lying about your naval experience and you having a terriffically poor memory. ( Or the possibility that you are just playing games. ) But in any case, it demonstrates the unreliability of anecdotal personal testimony as evidence, especially yours.

Nothing is just a slab of words.

I can read any material and decide on my own whether or not there is value to it. I don’t need someone to tell me if it makes sense, is truthful, etc. I know this is a trait developed over many years of reading thousands of writings.

If you are interested in developing this sense of value, then find the truth you have now and live within it. As you live totally within it more will be added and soon you will be able to recognize value when you find it.

I realize most of the posters here are very young and have not been properly exposed to life yet, but you can count on the slam-dunks as well as the victories. Learn now the methods you will need for survival in the future.
