Contacting Blizzard Support

Is there a way to contact Blizzard Support directly, and not through an online form?

About a half hour ago I received an email telling me my Blizzard Battlenet account was suspended for suspicious activity.

I went directly to the Blizzard site and tried to log in, and I have indeed been suspended, so the email I received was legitimate.

I tried to start the process to unlock my account, but it’s been so long since I’ve used it that I forgot some of my account details. I forgot which name I attached to the account (real or screen name?) what the answer was to my secret question (how many words was I supposed to write?) etc.

I don’t play WoW, and only used the account to download a game from the store a few years ago, so I never bothered to keep track of this information.

So after several failed tries, I was told that I wouldn’t be allowed to attempt the unlocking process, and that I should contact Customer Service.

When I try to contact Customer Service, my only options are to either read a FAQ related to my problem, or “submit a support ticket”. I assume the latter refers to contacting a human.

But when I try to submit a support ticket, I have to log in! Which I can’t do! AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

The last 30 minutes have been Kafka-esque. I’ve been going around in circles. Try to unlock account > cannot, please contact support > please log in to send form > cannot, your account is suspended, please unlock > try to unlock account… etc.

I just want to, log in, check and make sure that my new credit card is not linked my account, and then delete my account forever.

If anyone knows how to contact a human at Blizzard, I’d be very grateful for your help.

P.S.

Mods please move this thread if it’s in the wrong forum. I figured that Blizzard = games.

Try going to Battle Net [US site, if you are nonUS, you may have to hunt around for your country/continent] if you did not actually create a battle net account when Blizzard went over to using them to manage the diverse accounts it may be why you are having issues logging in. If nothing else, make up a new account to use to contact customer service.

Though do be aware that probably 99 % of all emails about your gaming accounts are probably con artists trying to get your log in information to hack your account.

Isn’t there a phone number on the website?

You should be able to find a phone number on Blizzard’s website. Based on my experience, you can expect to wait on hold for quite a while (40 minutes bare minimum) before getting through to someone who can help you. When you do get through, that someone is awesome and will solve everything.

Thanks for your replies everyone.

Yes, I was doing this all through the Battlenet website.

I don’t want to make an international phone call, especially if I’m going to be on hold for a substantial amount of time.

And to be honest, I don’t really want to expend much more time (or money!) on this problem. I don’t play WoW or Diablo III so I don’t really need the account. I just want to make sure my credit card info is safe.

A Google search provided a support email address: one of the mods on the Blizzard forum posted it in reply to someone’s question (unsurprisingly it was “support@blizzard.com”)

But when I emailed them last night, I got this automated response:

LOL.

sigh

So I was back where I started. I tried to log in (or at least begin the unblocking process) again this morning, and I no longer got the “You have tried too many times, please contact customer support” message. I guess that particular safeguard switches off after so much time lapses.

Now all I have to do is remember the answer to my secret question. Was it “Cecil’s Underwear”, or “cecil’s underwear”, or “cecils underwear”, or “Cecil’s Underpants” or…

Lesson learned: write down the answer to a secret question

Thanks again for the responses.

Best advice for secret question I ever heard was to have one weird answer for all secret questions. Who was your first girlfriend? Bananarama. What city were you born in? Bananarama. What’s your mother’s maiden name? Bananarama. And so on. That way you don’t have to guess.

iinm, the international calls are 1800 toll-free numbers, while the credit card info is supposed to be removed once you have stopped payment.
