Contemporary museum: did it move?

It’s been 20 years since I lived in Illinois, and 13 since I was last in Chicago. Well, I’m going back!

I seem to remember the Museum of Contemporary Art was on Ontario Street; now it seems to be on Chicago Street. Did it move, am I misremembering, or am I remembering a totally different museum? I am remembering a multi-story building with a multi-story sound-generating art thingy in the stairwell. It was cool.

PS, I’ll be by myself without a car. How late can I walk around the Magnificent Mile without getting mugged or killed? How late can I ride the El ditto?

Yes, the MCA moved in 1997.

You can walk around the Mag Mile at any hour. The L is actually pretty safe at any hour, but the scary-guy quotient goes up somewhat after 11 pm.
