I think we can all agree that the AL West is pretty much wrapped up now, but let’s have a contest to see whether anyone can pick the other five pennant races. The winner will recieve a fabulous…, well, I’ll think of some sort of prize.
AL Central: Indians. Being a Chicago fan, I’d love to see them lose, but Minnesota doesn’t have the experience necessary to win this one. The Twins are starting to fall apart already.
AL East: Yankees. The Yankees always win.
NL West: Arizona. The Dodgers are owned by Rupert Murdoch, also known as Satan. Thus, if there is any justice, goodness, or order in this universe, the Dodgers must lose.
NL Central: Cubs. Even a person who has been completly purged of all emotions would agree that the Cubs deserve to win this one.
AL West: Texas Rangers (ok, ok, I’m kidding)
AL Central: Cleveland Indians (man, I’d love to see the Twins win, but it’s not going to happen. Plus, they’re playing the Mariners again this week, I think)
AL East: BoSox (Getting Nomar back is going to be incredible for them)
NL West: LA Dodgers (Don’t look now, but they’re in first place even missing 60% of their starting rotation. That, and I don’t want the DBacks to win)
NL Central: Chicago Cubs (Adding McGriff gives them what they need, imo)
NL East: Atlanta Braves (Although it will be close if they don’t get a bat before the deadline)
Oh, can I pick Wild Cards too?
AL WC: Whoever loses in the East
NL WC: Whoever loses in the West
AL EAST: NY Yankees (ARRRGGGGGGGG, I so wanted to pick boston)
AL CENTRAL: Cleveland
AL WEST: Seattle
AL WILDCARD: Oakland
NL EAST: Atlanta (running away)
NL CENTRAL: Cubs
NL WEST: LA Dodgers
NL WILDCARD: Arizona
I like Seattle for the World Series. I was doing some research before I came back to the site (for my own enjoyment), and Seattle has a winning record vs. every possible postseason threat.
Rupert Murdoch is indeed Satan, but Jerry Colangelo is probably Satan’s cousin and the D-Backs deserve to end up in the same level of hell as the Dodgers. And I’m a Dodgers fan.
As much as it pains me to say this, I foresee the Giants passing up both the Dodgers and the D-Backs. After Thursday, the Dodgers finish their “Bottom of the Barrel” tour against the NL’s bottom feeders. The Cubs will come in to town and the Dodgers will return to their normal level.
AL EAST: Red Sox. A few Yanks are due to get old.
AL CENTRAL: Twins. I think they’ll come back strong late; Cleveland, IMO, is playing over their heads.
AL WEST: Well, duh. Seattle’s what, 350 games ahead now? (Actually, 20. Seattle is further ahead than all the other five division leaders COMBINED.)
NL EAST: Braves. I’d love the Phils to pull it off though. Actually, I’d really love it if the Fish would win it.
NL CENTRAL: I’ll take the unpopular position: Astros.
NL WEST: Giants. I just have a feeling.
Wild Cards: Dodgers (NL) and Indians (AL) - Yankees out of playoffs. Just you watch.
… PatrickM, with five pennant races correct. Way to go Patrick. Your prize will be one ticket to a Tampa Bay Devil Rays game, assuming they still exist.
