Hey, you’re the one picking Philly! They may have the best relief in the league, but you can’t start the game with them (and Lieber won’t be getting 45 starts).
Hey, Philly’s gotta win sometime, right? Right? Actually, I don’t feel good about that pick, but I can’t figure out who else to go with. Washington? Um, no. Atlanta? It’s tempting, and I should know better than to pick against them but the run’s gotta end some time, right? New York? Ha! Florida? I almost picked them, but I don’t think they’re gonna hold together. That just leaves Philly.
DePodesta is the AntiChrist. The team, as it is now, can’t even turn a simple double-play. With no defense, iffy pitching and questionable hitting, the Dodgers are on their way to the cellar. The Giants will dominate the division, with the Padres close behind. Mark my words, the Dodgers are going to make the *Diamondbacks * look good this year.
You, my friend, must be smoking some of Munch’s crack.
Look, as an Angels fan, few things would give me more pleasure than watching the Dodgers and all their smug little fans go down the toilet in a heaping ball of flame, but I just don’t see it. The Giants are old. Really old. Their entire success rests on the hamstrings and knees of Bonds - not good. San Diego? Good team with a lot of upside, I really like them (as you can see from my picks) but they’ve got some glaring offensive weaknesses in Klesko, Burroughs, centerfield, etc.
Again, I’ll be shocked if the Dodgers finish worse than second or with less than 85 wins.
I don’t see them competing with the pitching in that division. Brett Myers is starting tonight, and it’s the second game of the season. I don’t think they’ll contend much past the deadline, and you know they’re the least likely team in the division to get help even if they are competing, so, nah, they aren’t winning. Maybe as low as fourth, in my opinion. At least Ryan Howard and Chase Utley are going to be stars for some other team.
