Continuing With "The Dreamcatcher" thread

Dear Teemsters,

Let me at the outset just apologize once again for the thoughtless way I hijacked The Shining thread. It put me in mind of being at a cocktail party where a group is discussing, say , time travel and here comes Quasi, who stands there, listens and then says something inane like, “What do y’all think of Expedia?”.

Yeah, its kinda on topic (travel), but I can imagine being stared at in silence before I slowly walk away from this imaginary gathering and slink out the door.

So having said that, I would like to commend Joe Cool from The Shining thread for the way he answered my question. It was one of the most articulate descriptions of King’s work that I have ever seen and I agree wholeheartedly. I too enjoy the glimpse into the “universes” King creates, and once a new novel hits the stands, and he makes a reference to a previous story, it makes me go back and read that one again, thereby gaining a whole new insight into what has been written. (Is there a literary defintion for this technique, or did King invent it?)

However, I am still a little confused about how Dreamcatcher was supposed to tie into The Body. Usually, there is a “lead-in” of sorts that gives a little history, but it was missing here. I am beginning to think that the “advance” mention I saw, was so far in advance that The Body tie-in may have been written out. So my question remains: Did anyone else think that this was going to be a “sequel”, or should I go back to playing with “Tony”, Mrs. Torrance?

The only tie in I knew of was with IT.
The book sorta takes place in Derry.
There was reference the big explosion that knocked out the Standpipe.
And the Alien’s “name” was Mr. Gray. One of IT’s name is Bob Gray.
