Control thread for the "Finish the dialog-only story"

Moments ago I opened a thread titled “Finish the dialogue-only story.” This is the place to ask questions, make comments, and so forth.

The rules are simple. The story in the other thread must be told entirely in dialogue. The only exceptions are attributive phrases–“he said,” “she asked,” and so forth. Also, the only attributives allowed are “said,” “asked,” and “replied.” No whispered, growled, laughed, et cetera. Get your point across through the dialogue.

Here’s some examples:

Permissable:

“I suppose you’re wondering why I brought you here,” Christine said.

“I’m more concerned–ow!–with why you have me tied up like this,” Natalie replied.

“Oh, I wanted to introduce you to my friend Sparky. He wants to talk to you about the way you act around my husband.”

“You’re a psycho, you know that?”

“Better a psycho than a – did you hear that?”

Impermissable (with the offending parts bolded):

“I suppose you’re wondering why I brought you here,” Christopher growled.

“I’m more concerned–ow!–with why you have me tied up like this,” Natalie replied, recoiling as Christine played with stun gun in her hand.

“You’re a psycho, you know that?”

“Better a psycho than a --”

Chriistine’s voice trailed away as a loud bang came from the other room.
Anybody who wants to play can find the thread in question here. Anybody with questions or remarks should post them here.
