That was what I was trying to do, apparently badly.
No, because I think there are too many weapons in the US as it is.
Using a strict definition of a firearm, I’d say air rifles definitely aren’t firearms. But since the current court reads the amendment as allowing weapons suitable for self-defense, I’d think an air rifle could pass that test. So then it would come down to consistency in applying “orginalism”, which would mark the first time they did that.
The second amendment protects “arms” not, “firearms.” Toy guns are not arms and thus aren’t protected under the second amendment. On the other hand, arms that are not firearms should be protected to the same extent as firearms.
I believe “arms” as interpreted in 2A refers to a class of tool specifically designed for the singular application of delivering death/injury. Hence, knives, for instance, are not protected because they have other, non-violent, uses.
Some cities will not let you walk around with a wakasashi on your belt, but a semi-auto rifle over your shoulder, nothing they can do about that. Now, if your Lee-Enfield has a bayonet affixed, it might be possible that the gun would be viewed as a threat, because those jabby things are truly scary.
The Sheriff of San Mateo County, California sent a four man team, including four round-trip plane tickets, three nights of hotels, meals, rental cars, and a lot of overtime, to Indiana to raid the car shop of an Indiana Batmobile producer as a personal favor to the Sheriff’s friend.
This one infuriated me. The county should make take it out of the Sheriff’s salary.
I am wrong? How can they get a warrant for anything in another State? More, how can California Deputies serve such a warrant? They have no jurisdiction. They have no police power in another State. Doesn’t the warrant have to filed in Indiana and Indiana LEOS serve the warrant?
Guy should have called 911 saying there were men with guns pretending to be police officers.
I was an EMT in Clark County, Indiana for quite a while. I worked alongside Jamey Noel in occasion. And I luckily wasn’t in that district when these events allegedly took place. I didn’t know Noel well, but always thought there was something slimy about him.
