Some LEOs look for any excuse to kill an animal, even if it’s a pet, while on duty. It’s a sick and disturbing fantasy; they want to kill something, anything, and get away with it.
I witness a close call along these lines many years ago. I had access to a GPR system at the time, and a county sheriff asked if I would scan the grounds around a rural property and look for buried bodies. (The owner was in prison for multiple murders.) While I was rolling the GPR system over the grass, the neighbor’s dog came up to the fence and started barking. One of the deputies went up to the fence, assumed a very aggressive stance, put his hand on his pistol, and started screaming at the dog and the owner. He was unhinged. The other deputies watched him and just shrugged their shoulders. I thought he was going to shoot the dog, but the owner finally came out to get him. (Remember, there was a fence.) He continued to stare into the neighbor’s property for a least a couple more minutes, before going back to what he was doing before (talking with his buddies).
I could fill up an entire other thread about law enforcement retaliating against/persecuting people who have dared to speak up against Flock cameras. But I’ll save the most eggregious example (that I’ve encountered so far) here:
So someone vandalized a bunch of Flock cameras in Ridge Spring, South Carolina. On the town’s Police Department Facebook page, the issue came up, and a local resident, Christian McClellan, exercised his First Amendment right and posted “Fuck you and your Flock cameras.” McClellan got a response from Police Chief Terry Logan saying that using electronic communication to disseminate profanities is against South Carolina law (no, not it isn’t) and that he would be getting a warrant and sending US Marshals to pick him up.
McClellan went to the media and the story became a Whole Thing, with the ACLU taking an interest. Meanwhile, the Ridge Spring PD’s Facebook page has been scrubbed, and according to the Ridge Spring website, the Chief of Police position is “vacant,” meaning Logan either quit, got fired, or quit before he got fired. But no one’s talking so the media is just kind of assuming that Logan is out of his job.
I know the article says the supreme court made the scope of this law narrow enough that he didn’t actually violate. However, ISTM if he’s guilty of S.C. 16-17-430(A)(1), [use in a telephonic communication or any other electronic means, any words or language of a profane, vulgar, lewd, lascivious, or an indecent nature…], then the chief is guilty of S.C. 16-17-430(A)(2) [threaten in a telephonic communication or any other electronic means an unlawful act with the intent to coerce, intimidate, or harass another person].
I feel like he (or the ACLU or the media or someone) should do a FOIA request to see if they’ve been searching for his plate in the Flock system. I wonder if he can get an injunction to prevent them from doing it going forward to prevent further harassment.
Before the collision, officers made contact with the occupants of the other car, two brothers, in the 2400 block of State Road 200. The pair had been involved in an argument with each other and had pulled off to the side of the road. Officers interacted with them at that location.
Officers say it seems like both individuals had been drinking. Despite that interaction, officers did not investigate whether either driver was impaired before they let them back on the road.

When I started seeing these images on imgur, I initially assumed they were from The Onion or some other spoof news site.
This has been all over the news/social media for the past few days, but it happened in June. In fact, it happened on Juneteenth day. The short version appears to be the the mother and her 1 year old son were shopping with a friend and the friend stole some diapers. Cops tried to stop her but she drove away. Cops claimed she was trying to hit them and fired, killing one of the kids and injuring the friend/driver. Their lawyer, Ben Crump is saying the cop is full of shit WRT her trying to hit them since (like Renee Goode’s murder) the bullet entered through the side of the car.
So far, the police also haven’t released the bodycam footage. As Crump says, if they really feel the shooting was justified, show us the footage.
I also tend not to go straight to racism every time I hear the two involved parties were a white cop and a black victim (to be very clear, I don’t deny it’s often the case, I just don’t jump to that conclusion immediately) but this article also mentions the white police chief was recently fired for being a racist. I might be wrong, but I feel like you have to be really, really racist to be fired for being racist in Mississippi.
Release the body cam footage! This smells really bad.

Lynn Fitch is the name of the attorney general who decided nothing was wrong with slaughtering a baby.

The video is out. The driver did hit one of the cops (more bumped into) but the shots do appear to come from the side. The whole thing was a clusterfuck. The cops were at Walmart for an unrelated issue. They were notified that there was a shoplifter and they all ran after the car with guns drawn. Totally unnecessary. Just get the tag number and follow up later. The cops were not in danger when the shots were fired.
I was unaware shoplifting was a capital offense.
