Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread #2

Cop goes to the wrong address, shoots a child’s dog.

The police chief of Corruna, Michigan was fired at tonight’s city council meeting over an arrest of a person who was recording police activity Friday.

Here’s the video of the arrest.

Well that one wasn’t all that controversial, was it?

Well, I got no problem with these ‘First Amendment auditors’ feeling the “full legal force” in response to their nonsense . . . dude asshole should be thankful he didn’t get tazed.

Is this sarcasm?

Yeah, fuck the first amendment, am I right?

Note to @Snowboarder_Bo: Yes, that was sarcasm.

I’m going to assume that y’all aren’t actually all that familiar with ‘’‘First Amendment Auditors’’.

Yeah, those people are idiotic morons (I’m surrounded by folks that worship Ammon “Freedumb” Bundy). But, that guy complied with their request to back up before Deputy Dipshit got his panties in a bunch. He was rightfully shit-canned.

Yes, Michigan Constitutional Crusader is the epitome of polite cooperation with the police.

Many videos, and many hours of viewing. Care to narrow down what the fuck we are supposed to be looking for just a wee bit?

I think it is just an example of lunacy by volume.

Pick a couple of the short ones and watch exactly how cooperative Michigan Constitutional Crusader is with the police and other authorities.
The entire point of their ‘’‘First Amendment auditing’’’ is to get arrested with the hope that they can then sue everyone and get a multi-million dollar payday.
These people are not what they want you to think they are.

Why don’t we pick the one that started this conversation, and you point out where he was wrong and the police chief was right?

Ditto. How was Deputy Dawg in the right in this instance?

I’m gonna assume that you aren’t too familiar with sov cits or freemen on the land. They are people who claim that the laws do not apply to them, they do not “submit” to be ruled.

That’s very different than asserting the rights that we actually do have, even if doing so in a bit of an assholish fashion sometimes.

Are you of the opinion that this individual should have been tased and faced legal consequences for what he did? If so, what laws, exactly, did he break?

AH; so not sarcasm then.

I’m very familiar with them and while you’re correct that a subset of these folks may have ties to those movements, the vast majority are not and do not.

Besides, why are you trying to tar this one person in the OP with such a broad brush? Why don’t you tell us what’s wrong with the incident we’re discussing, instead of bringing a bunch of unrelated crap to the discussion?

Let’s say that we accept, for the moment, that you are right about their intentions. Assume, for the sake of argument, that in their interactions with the police, the main aim of these people is to get arrested so that they can sue.

You know the absolute best way for the police to deal with people like this? It’s to leave them alone, unless and until they actually break the law. Let them stand around and film, as they have a constitutional right to do. If they are getting too close, and putting themselves or others in danger, or truly interfering with police business, then ask them to step back. If they don’t step back, or if they actually do interfere with police business, then arrest them.

The way to deal with people like this is NOT to arrest them just because you don’t like them, or because their lawful actions present some sort of annoyance to you.

Another instance of a Police Officer moonlighting as a professional killer.

Gumbs, who had been photographed flashing a hand sign used by the Gangster Disciples, was a self-professed “hitman” for the gang while serving as a police officer.

I haven’t watched the video, but according to the article,

I’d rather save my outrage for cops doubling as gang hitmen.
