Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

Why would I accuse you of lying? Were you lying? I said, “According to the article linked by monstro”. Did you provide a link to the article?

The edited video starts with the officer saying, “Your turn signal, your turn signal was on but you didn’t turn it on 100 feet prior.”

I agree they’re innocent until proven guilty but their attempt to turn public opinion against the media is rather creepy. It’s usially looked down upon when the authorities do that.

No, I meant they probably should have been charged with something long before the TV station broadcasting the video ever became a thing. Like, around the time their supervisors watched the fucking video.
That their supervisors are instead lying their asses off, covering their ass to the point of blaming the media for showing what really happened and (cherry on the ass-cake) pooh-poohing their critics because “somebody died, people !” *is *unethical. And sad.

Riker’s Island guards ignore a diabetics pleas for help. Watch the video as they step over his body as he lies in a heap, dying.

Oh sorry, I thought you were taking their side that the media was unethical.

It’s looked down upon when the Only Black Lives Matter cabal does it.

See, that’s the problem. Unedited video portraying these brave police in a negative light. If they had confiscated the neighbor’s video, all the uproar could have been avoided.

Where’s Smapti been, anyway? He could expound on how this unedited video can’t possibly be the whole story.

No, the homeowner didn’t shoot anyone. The wounded officer was a friendly fire situation–shot by another policeman.

At least it wasn’t as bad as what happened previously:

What was it Chevy Chase’s character said in Foul Play, “Cops have the best” ?

And yet, some people just can’t understand why other people mistrust the cops.

There hasn’t been much in the last few pages to object to. It’s actually kind of a relief to see people focusing on actual instances of police error/misconduct instead of kneejerk assumptions of “a white cop has shot a black person therefore RACISM”.

That’s because they are running out of black people to shoot.

I didn’t say the homeowner had.

That aggrieved statement is what really got me.

Remember the horse thief who got a colossal beating from about ten San Bernadino County Sheriff’s Deputies? I added the incident to this thread back in April.

Some news in that story today:

Emphasis mine.

They “crossed the line”? Whoa, there, counselor, don’t go all crazy on us now! Next you’ll be alleging that they might have engaged in some questionable judgment!

On the one hand, it’s good that they were charged. On the other, i’m quite frankly stunned that the DA saw fit to charge only three of them. The beating went on for a full two minutes, blows were administered by more than just the three men who were charged, and none of the others made any effort to stop what they must (or at least should) have known was a completely excessive use of force.

I love the spin the deputies’ lawyers are putting on this:

Yes, i’m sure it’s true that a kick to the crotch or a blow to the head of a prone and handcuffed man does look a bit different when you’re at ground level. Especially if you’re the man having his head and his nuts stomped on.

The victim in the case got a $650,000 payout from the county earlier in the year. I would have been tempted to go to court and ask for more.

The libtards have turned our once-great society over to a coven of criminal-coddling Kenyanists, as the comments on this communistic board clearly convey.

If you can’t do the time, don’t do the crime.

“Napalm, son. Nothing else in the world smells like that. I love the smell of napalm in the morning.”

Are you taking the piss? Your comment doesn’t even apply to the first linked incident in which the shot man wasn’t even accused of a crime.

I was assuming so. Should I not be?
