Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

That you consider countries that practice torture as civilized is telling.

Hahahaha. Didn’t I say, “so-called civilized”? Why, yes I did. Your inability to read is also telling. Better luck next time.

If you don’t think they are civilized, what difference does it make if they use torture but not tasers? We expect that from uncivilized countries, so your post is irrational.

Doorhinge unhinged? Sway it isn’t so.

Sooooo…this seems a tad excessive.

Indiana Reserve Officer Accused of Rape, Human Trafficking

Another super hero, eh, Smapti?

It’s those damn videos that prevent our heroic LEO’s from giving a suspect a good ole ass beatin’. These videos will only lead to Anarchy, I tells ya…

I’m sorry. You seem to have confused me with someone who believes police should be allowed to rape people.

All right, buster. You just made the List.

So cops murdering people is just fine, but you draw the line at rape. Got it.

No, cops shouldn’t be murdering people either. The overwhelming majority of police killings are not “murders”, however.

For the present, American juries are not going to treat them as murderers. I think there needs to be a special class of prisons constructed so that when cops shoot someone with a towel around their arm (June 2015 story) for example, juries would be willing to send them there.

All shootings are justified until such time that a video is uploaded to youtube.

There’s a list?

Sway it isn’t so.

From the NYT:

“An independent autopsy shows a Tennessee man died in Mississippi police custody because he was hog-tied for an extended period …Goode was left hog-tied and on his stomach for an extended period after his July 18 arrest in Southaven… The autopsy shows that Goode had trouble breathing in that position and when his heart couldn’t compensate, it went into cardiac arrhythmia and killed him… Goode was 6 feet-1-inch tall and weighed 150 lbs.”

The police initially claimed that Goode died because of an LSD overdose. Nope, he died because the police killed him.

I suppose there has to be a first.

If he hadn’t taken LSD, he wouldn’t have had to have been physically restrained. His death is a direct consequence of his decision to break the law.

Do you realize that you’re evil? I don’t mean that in a figurative sense, I mean that you’re literally evil. Thankfully you’re just a pathetic loser on the internet; if you had any real power you’d be destroying other people’s lives right now.

Right – once someone has broken the law, the police can restrain someone in any way they choose, even deadly ways. Right, Smapti? The police have no responsibility to restrain people in ways that don’t kill them.

And with that you’ve just argued that the police can dispense a death sentence if you break any law. Good work!
