You know, this is tantamount to godwinizing yourself. Your hollow brain cannot seem to grasp that being incensed at police misbehavior is a very different thing from “hate”. Almost all of what has been posted in this thread represents unjustifiable violence on the part of police. We want them to knock it off, act appropriately, and stop with the lies and planted evidence. Apparently, you consider that view to be that same as “hate” and feel that it is OK for the police to make shit up, kill people whenever they feel like it and basically just strut around like mini-tyrants.
You are plain wrong in so many ways, yet on you go, puking out more and more of the wrongness. I feel so sorry for you.
I don’t care for police misbehavior either. The problem here is that your ilk are seeing misbehavior where no such thing exists. You’re reading racism into encounters that have nothing to do with race, you’re dreaming up elaborate conspiracy theories to explain mudane events, you’re confusing occurrences which are rare and unacceptable with SOP.
And by promoting that mindset, you’re encouraging the idea that the police are the enemy of the people and that citizens should resist law enforcement at every opportunity, thus creating more unnecessary confrontations than would happen if people just respected the cops and the law in the first place.
If someone comes to your house, handcuffs you, holds you in a “black” facility, beats you, and doesn’t read you your Miranda rights or allow you access to a lawyer…were you actually ever under arrest?
Bernie wouldn’t cross the street to piss on you if you were on fire. Trump, however, would love you.
“Elaborate conspiracy theories”? What the ever loving fuck are you talking about? There is nothing elaborate about the police closing ranks and defending each other. None of us are dreaming up anything, it is all quite straightforward, and we are now seeing evidence of it, since cameras are everywhere.
And yes, there does appear to be a racial component. The statistics bear that out.
The police themselves are encouraging the notion that they are the enemy of (many of) the people. None of us are “promoting” any mindset, we are simply questioning how widespread this behavior has become and how drunk with power the police actually are. You do not see a problem, apparently because your head is not really hollow: you have shit for brains.
There is a fucking problem. We want it fixed, one way or another. Denying the problem only lets it get worse.
All you ever do is speculate on the opposite side. And what’s so goddamn tiring is that you are incapable of doing anything but that. You automatically take the cops side in every single thing. That is… unnatural.
There is nothing in this world that I can support 100%. Take free speech for example. I would take a gun and march on Washington to defend free speech, yet I don’t think my daughter’s school teacher should speak graphically about her sex life to the class. To defend it every single time would be impossible, and free speech is a pretty narrow and well defined idea. To take the same side for every single story you read on the internet about two stranger’s interactions is insanity. Yet, somehow, you do. That’s what makes you a troll.
I think he does care about police behavior, given the mental contortions he goes through to defend it in almost every instance. Obeying the state authority is what makes his world right–“C’mon Jerry, go along, go along…!”
“I’m not goin’ along. I can just see you in Berlin in 1939 goose-stepping past me:
‘C’mon Jerry, go along, go along…’”
- Jerry to George, in “The Outing”
What he doesn’t care about is citizen behavior, even if and when it’s non-criminal, that draws police abuse and that abuse, itself.
Because what’s really fucked up, is how he defends police power abuse uncritically and almost by reflex. Smapti has a better chance of seeing a unicorn than police abuse.
Don’t sell yourself short; you and Trump have so much in common–each of you is a fascist who wants to shit on the constitution. Think of the long talks you could have.
So when the investigation finds that there have been abuses. No one here except you is betting against that. It will be because the feds have bowed to political pressure and ‘pandered to some mob’. Meaning from your perspective that law enforcement officers have ignored actual facts and the rule of law to find fault with the CPD for political expediency.
We will all be sure to point out how it sucks to be you even more than it usually sucks to be you.
I watched the video of the kid getting shot in Chicago.
The news voiceover quoted police reports that he ‘wielded his knife’ and ‘tried to stab’ and ‘tried to kill’. What I saw was kid walking down the center of the street, who did have a knife, but was 20 feet away from any cop. Still walking, not lunging. His path seemed to be the divider line on the road. Not moving toward any any officer.
Then one cop shot him. 16 times. Kid fell instantly with the first shot. Cop kept shooting him as he laid on the ground.
I am a reasonable person. I can accept that there may more than one POV. Maybe the cop saw a threatening gesture. Maybe he was justified in the first shot, maybe even the second. But the other 14 as the kid lay on the ground???
