Chicago officer sues estate of teen he shot, claiming trauma
He wants 10 million bucks. I had to double-check to make sure this wasn’t from The Onion. It isn’t. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. Un-fucking-believable.
This is a controversial encounter between police and the courts – which are not exactly “civilians”, as such,
The 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals unexpectedly ruled to limit how officers may use Tasers or other stun guns. In states such as Virginia and North Carolina, it’s no longer legal for police to use Tasers to force compliance from a non-dangerous suspect. Some cops say this is an unnecessary and dangerous restriction.
because
This case comes out of an incident in Pinehurst, N.C., back in 2011. A mentally ill man was refusing to go to the hospital, and he was clinging to a signpost. To try to make him let go, the police Tased him five times. He died a few minutes later.
Which is troubling. The police will be required to assess whether a person is dangerous enough to tase – in that brief moment, it seems likely that they will just say oh, fuck it and use their firearm.
Why do you think the law will allow them to shoot people with a gun if they are not dangerous enough to tase? ![]()
History has shown that the police make stuff up and cover for each other. If the suspect cannot speak, that is one less potential witness.
San Antonio police officer thought cellphone was gun before fatally shooting man
I haven’t paid any attention to new fashion designs in cell phones. When did they start making them look like guns?
It’s not the phones themselves; it’s the phone cases. ![]()
[smaptization]Well at least the Good Officer had the opportunity to kill someone prior to the implementation of body-cams.[/smaptization]
Don’t you know that cell phones cause cancer?
A 2014 beating of a black person by police is winding its way through the courts – fortunately, it was caught on a businesses’ camera so the police did not get away with it despite lying on their reports. http://revolution-news.com/cctv-captures-5-sheriffs-beating-a-man-who-surrendered/
For icing on the cake, Hoppel also pled guilty to beating another suspect in an unrelated matter. http://revolution-news.com/cctv-captures-5-sheriffs-beating-a-man-who-surrendered/
There really is no excuse for not requiring operative body cams on all uniformed officers.
Right-wing stupidity as performance art? Perhaps you should start a thread.
IIRC, stupidity is strong with you. Maybe one of us should do a Find Posts by User and make a Best(!?) of Octopus thread.
(post shortened)
The idea of converting common items into bombs, firearms, and knife sheaths is not new.
*Subject: Cell Phone Guns (2002)
At first Cell phone gun sight it looks like a regular cell phone — same size, same shape, same overall appearance.
But beneath the digital face lies a .22-caliber pistol, a phone gun capable of firing four rounds in quick succession with a touch of the otherwise standard keypad.
…“We find it very, very alarming,” says Wolfgang Dicke of the German Police union. “It means police will have to draw their weapons whenever a person being checked reaches for their mobile phone.”
…“This criminal invention represents a potentially serious threat to law enforcement and the public,” said U.S. Customs Service Commissioner Raymond W. Kelly. “We received word about these guns last month. We have since alerted our field personnel to be on the lookout for ‘cell phone guns’ at U.S. ports of entry.”
These new covert guns were first discovered in October when Dutch police stumbled on a cache during a drug raid in Amsterdam.
In another recent incident a Croatian gun dealer was caught attempting to smuggle a shipment through Slovenia into Western Europe.
Police say both shipments are believed to have originated in Yugoslavia. Interpol sent out a warning to law enforcement agencies around the world. European border police and customs officers are at a heightened state of alert at all ports, airports and border crossings.
…Though the novelty of cell-phone guns is interesting, ATF spokesman John D’Angelo says the idea of concealing firearms in common devices is not new. “Disguised weapons have been around forever. We’ve seen guns in the form of canes, pens, beepers. As technology progresses and becomes more prevalent, disguised weapons will change to mirror that.”*
I quoted your whole post because it’s an excellent example of you being a shit-for-brains moron. You posted a whole article from Snopes about guns looking like cel phones when the post you quoted was about making cel phones look like guns.
Holy fuck, you’re stupid as hell.
I found this one today:[
](Police sergeant: 16 year old girl probably saw penises before I showed her mine, NBD - Boing Boing)
But why do I have the feeling that if Sgt. Guzman had a 16 year-old daughter and some adult was sending her dick pics, the description of this would be different? And maybe that guy would have an unpleasant run in with her father and his fellow officers?
Not harmful?
Maybe I just don’t get was these crazy kids are use to nowadays?
Like they don’t do that now.
Maybe he has a teensy, weeny, widdle, friendly looking dick.
You’re probably right. That might be why he has a job where he can carry a gun as ego compensation. Probably also drives a big personal car, too.
Let’s see if Tamir’s mother pays the bill. I’m betting she just wants to keep mooching.
Wow, seriously lame.
