As the campaign began, Trump showed behaviors described in 1980s as related to drug: impulsiveness, delusions of grandeur (i know more than generals, i know tax code better than anyone) lack of sleep, etc. His 2016 medical letter did not mention the conditions listed in his 1980s medical records. I called the person who told me about the supposed 1990 episode and he repeated his claim. He also told me that there was another person who knew something about it.
So, long story short, Eichenwald had 2 sources telling him that Trump had been hospitalized for a breakdown.
Now personally I think he was wrong. I think Trump shows clear symptoms of NPD, and based on my experiences no one with NPD would ever seek help without being forced into it.
Now Eichenwald’s twitter postings probably don’t clear the high bar for journalistic integrity shown by reporters such as Tucker Carlson, who claimed that Hillary had secret illnesses she was hiding from the press. One could only wish Eichenwald was as cautious with his Twitter account as President Pussygrabber is.
