That’s pretty much the opposite of what I said. I’m going to judge whether you are being racist based on what you say. Racism is not something that most people admit to, so if you say racist things, then I’m going to use my brain and I’m definitely not going to take your word for it.
And good job with those scare quotes around “code” as if that’s some kind of outlandish notion.
It’s foolish to be “as concerned.” On a personal level, I am not going to associate with people who show any kind of bigotry.
On a societal level, I’m not going to get excited about anti-white racism in my country, because as a practical matter, it really doesn’t matter. Maybe someday it will, but as of today, people complaining about anti-white racism not getting enough attention are really just try to distract people from real problems.
It is a ridiculous notion, and that’s the point. Racism is discriminating against someone, and that’s not something you can do in code, it’s an action you have to take towards them, or encourage others to do.
There’s a difference between using your brain, and deciding that someone who’s not actually saying or doing anything racist must, nevertheless, be racist because you’ve interpreted it that way.
You won’t be associating with a great many people then. Most people have some prejudices, whether conscious or unconscious.

This sentence makes no sense. If I’ve interpreted it as racist, then he or she has said or done something racist, regardless of whether he says “I’m gonna do this racist thing now.”
Oh, and that was kinda my point - but if a particular individual has suffered from it, it’s a real problem to them. But it needs to be treated as an individual problem, not a major societal issue.

Of course, you do, because you do actually care what people think, not what they do, because you’ve decided already that only your interpretations are valid, and that you can know what someone thinks even if it’s the opposite of the way the act or speak.
That’s why this “code” thing is bollocks. Because even if someone says or does nothing racist, if they don’t use the particular jargon you’ve deemed acceptable, they are racist - and hence you won’t associate with them. Not that I imagine that’s much of a punishment.
If they have said something that I have interpreted as racist, then they have done something racist. That’s the way reality works. You don’t wait for someone to admit to being racist, because only crazy people do that.
You’re treating “interpretation” as if it’s something outlandish and unfair. Everything anyone says has to be interpreted in order to be understood. That’s how human communication works.
The problem is that you are not the sole arbiter of what is or isn’t racist, and your interpretation isn’t gospel. You could be misunderstanding (intentionally or otherwise), for one thing. But if your view is that if anyone says anything that could possibly be construed as racist, then they are obviously and completely racist, then you’re as much of an idiot as Dibble, who sees more racists than a John Bircher saw commies.
Steophan, it looks bad that you won’t take Dibble at his word that he’s no racist, but you require that your word be taken that you aren’t a racist. Shoot, it’s almost like you are lacking self-awareness on this issue.

Of the people you mention, Shodan is clearly not a racist, and it’s only your paranoia that could possibly make you think he is. Chief Pedant is clearly wrong, but is attempting to discuss ideas, nothing else, and there’s no problem with that. Magellan01 quite possibly is racist, but more likely just likes winding lefties up.
You need to accept that not being insanely politically correct in every situation doesn’t make someone racist. What makes them racist is acting in a discriminatory fashion to someone because of race (or ethnicity, nationality or culture, the way the word is often used). Not discussing why more young black people fail at school or commit crimes. We need more discussion of those issues, not less, and we don’t need liberal arseholes shutting down that discussion with false, paranoid cries of “RACISM!!” all the fucking time.
