Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

ok.

…so I went to look up what happened in this case: but there haven’t been any story updates since the 18th of June. Maybe “an investigation” is still taking place. Maybe. Or maybe nothing’s gonna happen at all.

This was reported today.

Video of the push at the link.

Emboldened and increasingly consequence free. I’m thinking that ICE and the Border Patrol may well soon need their own pit-thread.

ICE needs to be investigated, and abolished. We don’t need a damn Gestapo or SS in this fucked up country.

I am glad this action was taken. Hopefully, it’ll help reinforce NOT shooting as a first and only option nationwide, but not going to hold my breath just yet.

he’s been charged. It’s still possible he will be found not guilty and the union will force the department to reinstate him and give him his back pay with interest.

I get that but we can’t send the message that all you have to do is run and you’ll get away.

The probability is very high that if this kid had not run, he would not have been shot.

It’s going to be hard to get a conviction. The officer was responding to a drive-by shooting, and the evidence appears to be fairly strong in that one of the occupants of the vehicle was involved.

For the record, I don’t think shooting was justified, but this is not a case of someone running from a traffic stop because there’s a bench warrant for his arrest or because he’s driving with a suspended license. The officer, apparently with good reason, had evidence that one or more of the occupants of the vehicle fleeing on foot had been involved in a violent crime.

It’s sad what happened to Rose, and I hope that a jury will hear the case without prejudice and render what they feel is a fair verdict based on the facts of the case. Rose seemed like a good kid who may have picked the wrong friends to hang with.

So, it is better to send the message to the police that if someone runs from you, it is fine to kill them?

This thread exists because that is not true.

That’s happened before… and too often.

You don’t even HAVE to be running away or resisting.

Yeah, but its better for all involved if you don’t run. That way he doesn’t have to hit a moving target and you don’t have to die all hot and sweaty.

Video has surfaced of a reported Lancaster, Pennsylvania, police officer tasering a man who is unarmed and complying to the best of anyone’s abilities with the thug officer’s demands. According to the Associated Press, officers were responding to calls that a man was “confronting people with a bat.” Whether or not this is the same man, a few things are very clear:** he is sitting on the floor complying, he clearly does not have a bat, and you can hear more police arriving.**In the video the officer is training the taser on the man, telling him to put his arms and legs straight forward. You can clearly hear the cop say “legs straight out,” followed by another police officer—off camera—SCREAMING for him to cross them. He crosses his legs, they taser him. As they are tasering him, another SUV filled with police officers arrives. The man, now brutalized, continues to comply.

He should have followed the officer’s instructions, what’s so hard about that?

Beat up and arrested for getting into his own car. No apparent consequences for the cops who beat him up.

Portland State University police shoot, kill Navy veteran who was trying to break up a fight

Police: Shoot first, figure out who’s who later.

You call bruised knuckles and scuffed clothes “no consequences”?

Shouldn’t this be in the Positive Gun News thread? “Police kill reckless concealed carry holder”

Don’t try it-That thread is like an impenetrable snow globe for gun support snowflakes.

Holy Hell. I watched the dash-cam video. Even if he HAD been a guy who had just stole a car, that would have been a hysterical overreaction by the police.

Shit, they couldn’t ask for license and registration? Why do we let morons be cops???
