That’s all you got? Just jumping on the bandwagon to try and shut people down with accusations of racism? This whole fucking thread is about race you fucking moron.
Weak tea from people with weak arguments.
Come with logic or go home and cry yourself to sleep.
Take your racist hijack to any of the other threads about Kaepernick, where you will still be seen as the racist you are…but at least you will be on-topic there.
It is? I don’t see anything about race in the title. The cops don’t limit their mistreatment to just black people. Everyone seems to be fair game, at least to some extent.
A relatively small number of rioters, in very small number of riots. Certainly not a group of millions, the vast majority of whom have never taken part in a riot.
This is just the latest in a long, long line of posts that you’ve made that make it clear that you have negative feelings for black people in America as a whole. I doubt you even realize it, but your posts reveal these feelings, over and over again.
People like you see racism everywhere. It literally permeates all of society and is so indelibly etched into our institutions that it cannot be fixed except by thought policing.
However, upon rereading my statement, I can see how it sounds racist, the insertion of the descriptor black was unnecessary and not entirely accurate, there were in fact non-black rioters. But the way you guys jumped on it, OMG. Its like you were sitting there waiting for me to say something that is racist so you could attach the label.
Some introspection! Great! This is a small step in the right direction, but sometimes that first small step is really difficult. Now, please consider what drove you to put that in in the first place, and not figure out that it was inappropriate until you were called out multiple times for it. I’m very hopeful that you’re a fundamentally decent person who just has some unconscious negative inclinations about black people. If you recognize that you may have these sorts of unconscious inclinations, then you can work towards eliminating them. If you never even consider that you might have such unconscious biases, then there’s no chance you can ever overcome them.
Society drills these kinds of feelings into people regardless of race (it certainly drilled them into me, and even into many black Americans I’ve known, who have had unconscious negative feelings about black people) – it should be no surprise that they may have been drilled into you as well. And it says nothing about your fundamental character – at least, as long as you’re willing to maturely consider it, and work hard to try to overcome any such biases that you have.
My mind reading ability is just as good as yours. I can also read your SUBCONSCIOUS mind.
You are letting your white liberal guilt make you say stupid things. Of course not everyone associated with BLM has not rioted. Just like not every cop is a racist. Heck most of them never shoot a gun, never mind kill someone.
I don’t know. There might be something about those BLM riots that I associate with black people. And you’re right the rioters were not all black. So I should have said BLM rioters rather than black rioters.
I think almost everyone on this board is probably a decent person. You more than most but that doesn’t make every one of your opinions correct.
Of course I have subconscious inclinations, even biases and prejudices, we all do. It is a fairly common, almost universal psychological mechanism. Decent people try to address these biases. I also think you can go too far and inject race into everything and exaggerate the impact of race and racism.
And perhaps you should consider whether the problems are as big as you think.
Do you remember how we had trouble expressing how bad Trump? We had already used all available expletives to describe people like McCain and Romney. So when Trump came along and we used those words to describe Trump, it had lost most of its effect and impact.
People have gotten into the habit of calling people racist to the point it has lost its impact. Noone gives a shit if some SJW calls them a racist anymore. We no longer think less of someone who is simply accused of racism. It has lost its silencing effect. It doesn’t keep people from trying tho.
What brand of haircloth do you expect them to wear? Do you know any cops? Do they not condemn bad cops? Sure, there is a reluctance on the part of cops to get other cops in trouble but as one of my cop friends put it, 20% of people are assholes, do you really expect the percentage to be lower among cops?
Well, if I was a member of a certain group of government agents, and other members of that group did disgusting, despicable things, I would be right out there saying “That is NOT what my group stands for, we are a professional force that strives to ensure the safety of the citizens within our care”
Or you know, something like that. Not “Sure he tased that 11 year old girl for stealing candy, but it’s procedure. Nothing else could have possibly been done”
Most assholes don’t have a significant risk of killing people by mistake, incompetence, or assholery at their jobs. If my colleagues’ assholery risked killing people, I’d speak out against it whenever I saw it.
Yes, I do expect the percentage to be lower among cops. Cops are not a random selection of people, they are screened and vetted.
20% of my employees are not assholes, because I work to not hire assholes, and when I discover that I have in fact hired an asshole, I fire them. Can we hold cops to a higher standard than entry level dog washers?
That reluctance to get other cops into trouble is the problem. If you see a colleague breaking the law or policy, and you are reluctant to get them into trouble over it, then you are not just part of the problem, you are the problem. Now, if it’s something minor, then maybe you counsel them yourself. “Hey Bob, I saw what you did there, and that is not according to our department policy.” If Bob listens, then you didn’t have to get him into trouble. If Bob doesn’t listen, then you should escalate it to Bob’s superiors. If you are reluctant to do that, then you should resign yourself, as you are supposedly upholding the law, while breaking it yourself.
