Now hold on. You’ve haven’t walked in their shoes, and it’s just a few bad apples. It’s not like it’s the entire response team!
oh wait…

Assholes.
To be clear, they did not resign from the actual police force, just from the Emergency Response Team. If they had the balls to actually resign from the police force, we could probably chalk this up as a win.
At least that’s 57 fewer bad cops.
They’re still on the force, just not on the special team.
So how are they supposed to find out whom to beat down now? Yet another rash decision on their part, not thinking about the consequences.
Well good riddance. I see nothing to complain about here.
What will happen when they come begging for their jobs back?
ETA: Upon reading several subsequent posts here:
Oh wait a minute . . .
Then there’s this nutsack from Bethesda, MD.
The Twittermob has him pinned as a former police captain, though Montgomery County police swear up and down it’s not him.
Apparently, the Buffalo officers’ defense is that they were just following orders.
What is wrong with these people?
They had orders to push old people down to the street?
Yeah, I’m sure the briefing was like “OK guys, let’s go out there and push old guys over backwards. The objective is to make sure they pass out, and bleed from the head. And any a you pussies stops to help, well, you gotta spend the rest of the day with your dick tucked back between your legs. OK, let’s go be assholes! “ASSHOLES” ON 3!”
Right wing NAZI assholes like the Proud Boys and the Boogaloo Boys are violent instigators. They come in from out-of town specifically to turn mostly peaceful demonstrations itno shit shows. I’m white. And I’ve seen way too many videos of some WHITE son of a bitch agitating and vandalizing. They WERE running a fake “ANTIFA” site on Facebook (until FB shut it down) to pin the blame on an “organization” that doesn’t even exist as an organization.
The Boogaloos inparticular are hoping to start a civil war. I see them as traitors, infiltrating the protests to start a war and get other people killed.
They are also “kettling”.
They order the crowd to disperse, and then “kettle” them so they CAN’T.
THAT excuse didn’t work so well at ummmm errrrr the Nuremberg Trials.
Apparently, that excuse only works when you are exterminating entire peoples
You know what? If they were explicitly ordered to be violent, to not offer help, to show no mercy, and then they saw two guys basically thrown under the bus and treated as rogue actors . . . I can see why they’d resign. And it’s good they did. The problem isn’t a few bad apples, its the orders themselves, it goes much higher up. And I hope in a weird way this mass resignation will make that conversation more central.
I agree with this. Also, after seeing how they were expected to behave as part of that unit, maybe at least some of them are glad to be out of it.
I saw another video of the incident today, taken from across the street. You could clearly see the man being pushed and falling backwards and hitting his head on the ground. The officers on that side of the street all stopped for several seconds and looked over there, only to have one of their higher-ups come to chivvy them along and tell them to keep going forward.
If it is only the two officers who are being disciplined and not the lieutenant who was behind them pushing them on, then it will be a miscarriage of justice.
Fuji bikes has suspended sales to police forces, after reports of police using their bikes as weapons. I’ve seen at least one video of a cop using his bike to assault protesters, but there are so many videos out there, and a lot of them don’t have locations, so it’s hard to tell you where it happened.
You know, if they had resigned because the response team was given orders to do things like put old men in the hospital for standing on the street, and they refuse to be part of it… this would be an honorable choice.
But they didn’t. They’re fine with shoving old men down and putting them in the hospital, it’s the facing consequences part they don’t like. 100% guaranteed if those officers weren’t disciplined, they’d all be out there today following orders.
Don’t let the door etc.
