Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

Go ask your mom, the adults are talking.

Seems they are about to bury Scott today. I wonder if the kids he owes 18 grand to in back child support will be there to grieve him?

If it was, I think get lives and most his family would probably be doing the old west “rope dance.”

IANAL so don’t know if broken taillight is a class 2 felony, or just class 3, but I’m sure the druggie slut and her accomplice got what they had coming.

And restoring a dangerous video that law enforcement deleted? That’s got to be a felony itself. Those drug-dealing criminals should consider themselves lucky they didn’t get shot; I’m sure if they’d been of a subhuman race like our “President” they would have been.

Wow, I’ll write it in crayon for you if that’s what it takes.

The idiot horse thief is lucky he didn’t do this 100 years ago.

A side note to all: take a look at Graham’s Hierarchy of Disagreement, and consider where your post is on that scale.

Well, that killer cop won’t be able to support his children from prison, will he?

It’s good to know that you’ve got your priorities straight. I’ve always thought that summary execution was the appropriate penalty for child support violations.

Probably. News reports say he remained close to his children (who are now in their 20’s) despite his inability to make payments.

Debtor’s prison (even for missed child support) is a bad idea. Scott ran from his murderer because he was afraid of going to jail for debt.

The video makes them come off like a couple of entitled brats who think they’re too special to have to obey the law. Who tells a cop to “shut up” when they’ve been pulled over and are being accused of a felony? Who responds to being arrested by threatening to sic his mommy on the cops?

The Huey P. Newton Gun Club:

Wow, you’ve got quite an imagination. I was just commenting on what a dolt the dude was, not that he deserved to die. Perhaps you can show me where I said otherwise?

You don’t see how your sympathy for the dead guy is a little underwhelming? Not even a glimmer?

Your lack of unbiased comprehensive skills is showing; at no point in that video did the girl who was pulled over tell a cop to shut up.

When you are ready to discuss reality, we’ll be here.

You don’t have to say it.

If someone is shot in the back five times (eight shots) by a police officer, and that same person has missed child support payments, it is pretty suggestive when the aspect of the case that you feel most compelled to comment on is the part about the missed child support.

17 seconds in.

And while we’re at it, would you explain when it became a requirement that the cops get parental consent to arrest a minor?

I have one question about that video: how old was the guy in the back seat?

I agree. American culture has gone haywire. But rather than cops blaming their victims, and citizens blaming cops, isn’t it time to get together and root for progress? Try to get America to slow its descent into a maelstrom of insanity?

Good first steps would be (1) stop tasering non-threatening citizens, (2) reject the growing insanity of America’s gun culture.

Perhaps there is a middle ground between a minor demanding that his mother be present, and that minor instead tossing the cop’s salad, like smapti would have done.

I suppose we could always go back to beating them with sticks like cops did in our daddy’s day.

I can get on board with that.
