Controversial encounters between law-enforcement and civilians - the omnibus thread

Police get angry when “perps” run away and make the police give chase.

In this case it is mentioned two cops suffered dehydration and another was kicked by the horse. I imagine they also may have suffered punctures from cacti of arid plains of San Bernardino County.

That made them even angrier.

Therefor, the perp was “tuned up”. Surprised they didn’t kill or beat the horse.

Ok. I did. What’s your point? Or his by that matter.

OK, now I’m getting it. North Charleston, South Carolina. That’s where the North/South confusion came from.

All we need now is a report of controversial happenings in Southport, NC and we’ll have a full set!

If you people don’t know where Charleston is, your US history and geography teachers have failed. Seriously. It was one of the most important cities on the East Coast back in the day. Its importance has faded somewhat, but there’s a boatload of US history bound up in the history of that city.

And now this.

Man, fuck Southport. It’s where North Carolinians who haven’t got the guts to move somewhere truly tropical move to.

Where Is America? Only One Quarter of U.S. Students Are Proficient in Geography

Does that help? Not that it matters in this case or any other.

I think Dopers are dumber than they think they are. Just because the dumber contingent of USians can’t find places on a map doesn’t mean that a forum that prides itself on erudition gets a waiver on that. Especially since Dopers skew old, and US geography knowledge is something that should only improve over your life span, absent mitigating factors like dementia.

My point is “Feel good story ends on a down note.” First commenter’s point was humor. Did you read the article first?

I’m just waiting for a video of a real life reenactment of the Chappelle Show sketch where police sprinkle cocaine on the “suspect.”

I know Dave believes that a lot of his sketches were socially irresponsible, but his police brutality sketches and standup bits were probably many young white boys’ first inkling about such things. Go Dave.

I don’t believe your premise. I simply think Dopers are the same as anyone else. End of. Don’t much give a shit either way.

Of course I did or I wouldn’t be responding. Perhaps we have a different sense of humor.

Well, I thought it was a sick reference. Plus the coincidence of being detained after embarrassing a cop was enough to warrant posting in this thread.

Emphasis mine

Your posts are your cite.

Are yours too?

OK. If is this post you are referencing, I still “don’t get it.”

Please explain like I’m 12 y.o. kid.

Though I might just be.

The first comment on the page references the theme song to Fresh Prince of Bel Air. The incident took place in Philadelphia.

Right. And you find that funny because…

This is at least the second example in this thread of police unsuccessfully attempting to cover-up their misdeeds by failing to delete a video.

The suggestion has been made that not only should police on duty wear required body cams, but such cams should be tamper proof.
