I’m already making limoncello, man!
And yeah, Apollyon, we’re dumb. Or at least our produce departments are. They’re convinced that we need PRETTY SHINYNESS on our fruits or apparently no one will buy them.
And then the folks who make vegetable soap make a few bucks from people who buy that stuff to remove it!
Make lemonade. Add Tang and water to taste. Now you have orangeade. Very refreshing in the heat.
Yes, Tang. I know it doesn’t sound great but it is. The recipe I had called for starting with frozen lemonade concentrate, add the water, yadda.
I’m familiar with big red wax-coated apples (both occasionally here, imported from the US, and from when I’ve been in US supermarkets), i was just surprised to hear that someone thought it a good idea / necessary to do to lemons. Somehow just seemed weirder than apples… not really sure why.
lizardling, I had to read that twice… (it seemed to me at first that some people were making soap out of produce wax)… but you’re saying that there is special soap you can buy for washing the wax off the fruit and veggies? Wax that really wasn’t needed in the first place. Good grief.
Well, wax and insecticides and such, but I don’t think they really do it that much better than a thorough rinsing, or at least not enough better to justify the extra cost. It seems like vegetable wash first appeared about four or five years ago and it’s spread from then.
I make a shaker lemon pie. It’s nicer (IMO) if the rinds are removed which should suit you fine.

When come back bring 9 pie

Just thought of another - Lemon chicken. I think mum uses 6 or 7 lemons for that one.
Go all Alton Brown–Juice them and freeze the juice in ice cube trays. The pop them into a big zip top bag and into the freezer. Every time you need lemon juice after that you will have a handy-dandy pre-measured cube!
