I want to see if I can cook my own onion rings without deep-frying. I think these would be the steps:
Cut up onions - I can handle this.
Create some kind of batter - I have know idea what to do here.
Mix the onions with the batter - seems easy.
Cook somehow. Can I make onions rings without deep frying?
Any suggestions?
I don’t think they are going to turn out so great. Even the frozen onion rings that you can heat up in the oven were pre-deep fried. Then again - Shake 'n Bake seems to work for fried chicken, so who knows…you might try that and see if it works.
Are you on a diet or just against deep frying?
I haven’t tried this recipe, so caveat emptor:
Baked Onion Rings
2 egg whites, slightly beaten 1 large yellow onion, cut into rings 3/4 cup bread crumbs
Mix egg whites. Dip onion rings into egg whites then coat in breadcrumbs. Lay on greased cookie sheet. Bake 425 deg for 10-15 minutes
