When I moved to Saint Louis and was looking for a house to rent, the stove was a deal breaker. If the house had electric, it wasn’t in consideration. Seriously. Without a gas stove, I would not have rented the house.
Am I the only fan of radiant cooktops here?
I grew up cooking with gas appliances in California, but have had nothing but electric since I moved to Colorado in 1991 . If I can ever remodel my kitchen and put in what I want it will be a dual fuel: gas cooktop and electric oven. I miss my wok. I miss my griddle. I miss The Sausage Creature’s garlic chicken.
How do you cook with a cat’s ass? And do they really make self-lighting cat’s asses? Must check into this. Oh wait, I’m allergic to cats :smack:
We have an electric cooktop at our current house. Our former house had a gas range and I learned to love it after having learned to cook on electric and not knowing better. Gas is far, far better for quick temperature adjustment, plus when you turn the burner off, you can set the pan right back down on the stove and the food doesn’t scorch.
I really, really miss the gas cooktop. Evidently the people who originally owned our house opted for the electric cooktop - I know they could have chosen gas because our neighbors, with the same floorplan, have a gas cooktop. We’re considering redoing our kitchen cabinetry, and we are seriously thinking of running a gas line to the kitchen to remedy this lapse of judgement on their part. May not be worth the $$$ though.
Supposedly, electric stoves bring water to a boil faster. Maybe. I’d give that up in a minute.
Maastricht, you mentioned the induction cooking system - is that the one where it uses some sort of magnetic field, and you have to use iron-based cookware? i.e. no aluminum? Anyone else here have experience with that? I rarely use aluminum cookware so it might be an option when we remodel.
If only I could afford to cook with cats asses…
This is the final choice More and more money for $1300 CDN. I can’t wait to cook on this baby!
I will post a Cooking With Gas: Redux after it is installed and I quit burning the Kraft Dinner. Thanks again, all.
Holy Cow.
Is there a gas god? As I hit submit, I looked up and saw a commercial showing a gas stove. I kid you not. Gas cooking must be the way to go.
