Cookware (Paderno)

I’ve read a few threads here about cookware and readers opinions of it, but have not really found what I’m looking for.

Here’s some links to the threads read:

These in addition to offsite reviews.

Now I’ve found quite a few people recommending Paderno cookware. Certainly not as many as recommend Calphalon or All-Clad, but still a reasonably large number. Any unbiased reviews of Paderno? Any unfavourable reviews?

I ask as I’ve got a chance to buy some Paderno cookware at their semi-annual factory sale.

Also at the same store having this sale they are offering an imported non-stick pan which they claim is prety much equal to the Paderno non-stick pans. Has anyone had any experience with said pans (“Excalibur” label)?

I love my Paderno, but I’m not an experienced cook so I can’t offer any advantages/disadvantages.

I did get my whole set at employee cost though. I’m from Charlottetown (where they are made), and I know someone in the factory.

Ah… sounds like a nice deal you must have got there Anonymous.

The only thing really holding me back from their stainless line is whether it’ll be useful to me. Right now I already have some nice cast iron pans that are great for anything where I don’t mind a bit of discolouration from the pan, like steaks and other meats. I’m thinking a Paderno stainless pan could be good for those times when I don’t want non-stick, but I don’t want to have any colouring occur from the cast iron either. Any thoughts?
