My cats have always liked my son but tend to favor me.
For some reason, at 21, my son has decided he wants to take part in feeding the cats. Since he’s done this, they tend to favor him more. They have now since taken to following him to bed at night.
Which is kind of cool. I always felt a little sorry for him. Wishing at least ONE of the critters would keep him company at night.
I inadvertently taught my cat to ascend to the top of her cat tree when I shake a bag of snacks.
If I’m in the living room she’ll sleep on the couch nearby. If’ I’m sleeping or napping in bed, she’ll sleep in her bed in the bedroom. She doesn’t seem to pay me any mind at either location.
I had a friend that had a cat, we used to get drunk and he would pass out early, the cat would get on his chest and use his shirt as a scratching post or something, not quite sure what it was doing, maybe that’s similar to the whole cat stealing a baby’s breath myth.
That’s a behavior we cat lovers call “kneading biscuits”. And it’s a sign of love!
Kittens do it to their mother’s belly while nursing, and older cats often continue with the same behavior when they feel happy and safe with someone they love.:
