Cool cool cool...'Community: The Movie' appears to officially be in the works!

Pass, without Troy. Season 6 just didn’t work without the Troy/Abed dynamic.

I missed the joke in this one until I read it somewhere. It first appears the Subway boss guy is just weird with how he won’t leave until someone hands him his jacket. It’s makes for an awkward and absurdly funny scene.

But probably the real reason he didn’t want to stand up is because he was turned on by listening to the recording of Britta and Subway having kinky sex.

Remember, Troy and Levar Burton were lost at sea, possibly taken by pirates. Three movie should be about that.

That would be awesome if in the film, they are standing around the table with maps, planning the best way to begin searching for them, allocate resources, communicate, establish a grid pattern, etc. And as they’re doing that, Troy casually walks in behind them and says offhand, “Hey guys, it’s been a while, what’s up?”

When I rewatched Community, I thought Season 4 and Season 6 basically tied for last place. Each had one or two episodes I liked, though.

Yeah, I still found a lot to like in the later seasons of the show. I thought the addition of Kieth David as Elroy was fun, and I always like Paget Brewster in everything she does. I’m not 100% sure of the timing, but I think the one season Jonathon Banks did was probably a welcome light diversion for him between the end of Breaking Bad and the beginning of Better Call Saul.

Gillian Anderson got accidentally tagged in Joel McHale’s Tweet but she replied that she wants to be in it.

Battle of the GIllians. Two pronunciations enter. One pronunciation leaves.

I was thinking they could Britta Britta and have her in it for a scene and then the real Britta comes in. Would be the type of nice things. Perhaps even have Gillian Jacobs play Scully on the TV in the background…

Britta and Britain

“Community was light years ahead of its time when it premiered on NBC in 2009 and we are thrilled to once again visit the brilliant minds of Dan Harmon, Andrew Guest and this impeccable cast. We are grateful to Peacock, our partners at UTV, and to all the zealous fans who have cherished this iconic show.” Jason Clodfelter, Co-President, Sony Pictures Television Studios added.

Obviously that quote should have read streets ahead.

It’s a long long drop to Season 4 though, so I’d not equate them similarly in any way. Though 4 got bearable in the end, it never got good. Six had Chang’s Karate Kid, VR (JESUS WEPT!), Honda, Chang’s scifi film, Garrets Wedding, Grifting,

De gustibus non est disputadum, but I disagree. I loved the Subway product placement stuff and thought it was hilarious and brilliant.

Yeah, I liked it because you could tell they had to include it, so they did it in the snarkiest way possible.

It was sort of like the product placements in the original Wayne’s World film.

Interesting that that article notes that Donald Glover will “likely” be coming back. That’s encouraging.

I’m perfectly fine with not bringing Chevy back. If the movie needs a token older person, bring back David Keith (Elroy). Or, Jonathon Banks!

How would they bring back Pierce anyway story-wise, since they killed off his character? I can think of only two ways:

  • Ghost Pierce
  • Faked his death
  • Something else? Zombie Pierce? Reanimated from cryo-suspension?

Flashback?
Dream sequence?
Long-lost evil twin?
Found footage?

If they wanted to include Chase, they could think of a way to do so. But I don’t think they do.

True, there are probably dozens of ways they could bring him back. Imagination not working so good this morning. The real question is, should they bring him back. My answer is no.

You forget he was a Level 5 Laser Lotus. His body was vaporized in the Temple of Renewal and stored in an energon pod. All they have to do is extract his body vapors and re-condense it into a solid.

Or they could clone him from his sperm. He left behind a lot of sperm.

However they do it, they should definitely bring him back because Chevy Chase playing Chevy Chase without, ostensibly, realizing that’s what he’s doing is all kinds of hilariousness.

You’re right, I did somehow forget he was a Level 5 Laser Lotus.

You’re also right that bringing Pierce back and really leaning into the Chevy-ness of the Pierce character would be just the type of meta-comedy that Community did so well.
