Anyone remember an obscure bit-part actor named “Slim Pickens”? Who had a brother who went by “Easy Pickens”?
Then there was a Donna Lee Hickey whose first credited role in The Caine Mutiny identified the actor as “May Wynn” (or, you know, may not) which was the name of her character and the name she was thereafter credited under.

Charlton Heston used as his “first name” the surname of his stepfather, and “Heston” was his mother’s maiden name. Using his birthname would have been cool, John Carter.

While he played mostly bit parts, I wouldn’t really call him obscure, since he featured in one of the most memorable scenes in movie history in Dr. Strangelove (Major “King” Kong"), and was also a significant character in *Blazing Saddles.*
