People whose names you like

Regardless of what you think of the people themselves, what are some names that are really cool? Friends, family, celebrities, or fictional characters (although they have an unfair advantage) are all okay.

Hilary Swank - I mean, come on. Her last name is “Swank” and that means she must be, well, swanky.
Robbie McCracken - Some kid that goes to my school. Just say it out loud. Robbie McCracken!

I went through Basic with the guy with the Coolest Name In The World: Malachi J. Blade.

Eddie Vedder and Trent Reznor.

Alan Cumming…for obvious reasons, and that he has fun with it.
*Not all of the product info is posted yet.

Pierce Brosnan’s a pretty cool name. Very masculine but not stereotypically so.

Errol Flynn as well.

I think Joaquin Pheonix has a cool name.

Dirk Diggler can just cut glass. And make neon signs explode.

I knew a Rabbi Brazen in college. I just love the fact that she was a woman, a rabbi and had a last name with such cool meaning.

In fourth grade I had a bad teacher named Mrs. Bane. One day when I was a little older I looked up the word bane in the dictionary (after my mother called someone the bane of her existence) and realized just appropriate her name had been.

Edvard Munch.

A gorgeous girl with beautiful black hair came into the gas station where my friend worked and bought cigarettes - when she brought out her ID, my friend and I fell in love with her name: Piper Silverthorn. (this was all pre-“Charmed”, of course, ugh).

I recently noticed South African cricketer Ashwell Prince and I have always thought that Prince is a good surname and I have never heard of another Ashwell. It just sounds good.

A workmate of mine is Prince Marlon Gonzales. Another one is Memphis Sun.

I guy I was buddies with years back had the most phallic name I’ve ever heard: Lance Pierce.

There was a baseball player once named Ted Cox. He played for the Red Sox. I always liked that.

A long time ago, I had a job typing names into a database. The names were of people from all over the world who were enrolling to study English in America. Whenever I came across a particularly interesting name, I wrote it down to share with my wife and friends. The ones I still remember are:

Navin Chaichiwinlikit
Bambang Hermawan Wibowo

In college I was in a class with a guy named Ernest French. I just thought that was a really cool name.

I worked with a man named James Joyce. His wife’s first name was, believe it or not, Joyce.

She must have really loved him.

Some good names off the top of my head from the world of basketball:

Shane Battier (pronounced bat’ ee ay)
Jarrett Jack
Bo Outlaw
Stromile Swift

I’d have to go with Max Power!

Swoosie Kurtz. Gotta love a name that comes from a B-17!

His name sounds good in your ear…

From Firefly (and the American Civil War, I believe): Jubal Early
