Copa America Centenario (Copa 2016) Thread

This. Donovan wasn’t scoring goals for the 2nd place Bundesliga team at 17, that’s for sure. Also keep an eye on Gedion Zelalem, Mukwelle Akale, Jordan Morris, Bobby Wood, Rubio Rubin, John Anthony Brooks & Emerson Hyndman.

The biggest problem with the team is the coach.

I didn’t see the match so I maybe off the mark, but it seems to me though that if you only get two shots on target against a team with as much going forward as Columbia, in the absence of a watertight defence you’re probably going to lose.

I predict USA gets 4 points and scrapes through to the next round.

Jones and Bradley step up and the US stomps Costa Rica 4-0 in Chicago. I’m not sure Bradley has really put together a great game against a good team other than Mexico though. He needs to continue to play well in this tournament and through the WC if he wants any sort of legacy with the national team.

John Brooks looks like the real deal. Zardes is still baffling. Wood look great once he moved to his natural position in the center of the field.

A draw against Paraguay will almost certainly put the US into the next round.

Oddly prescient :stuck_out_tongue:

He’s not right yet.

Zardes has such a poor touch on the ball. It is so frustrating to watch especially considering there are one or two other players who could step off the bench and do a better job.

They play completely different positions, but he reminds me of Frankie Hejduk. Great attitude, busts his ass, runs all day, and shit touch.

Zardes kills at least 3 or 4 good buildups a game because he can’t control a pass or a touch gets away from him and he turns it over.

To be honest 4 points now will see the USA qualify comfortably for the next round as Costa Rica would have to beat Colombia by at least 6 goals (not going to happen) for the USA not to qualify with 4 points.

Paraguay I think will be tougher than Costa Rica, but its very much a game the USA can win.

Often the way with the USA that the players with the best physical attributes and mentalities are not the players with the best skills - obvious exception would be Donovan who for me had the complete set physically, mentally and technically.

The way that Paraguay played against Colombia with 10 men in the 2nd Half, and the way that Brazil looked, I’m very afraid that the QF game that I plan on attending on June 17 will be Ecuador v Paraguay instead of Brazil v USA.

I wonder what the resale value will be for my seats if it ended that way. :frowning:

I really need Brazil to destroy Haiti today.

Well the Argentina Panama game certainly perked up in the last 20mins
.

Yeah, the most complete player the US has ever had.

This Messi fellow has a future in soccer I think

I think maybe he should start next time.

John Brooks is a fucking beast. DeAndre Yedlin is an idiot. The US is through to the next round!

Now waiting on the rest of the games to find out the opponent.

Bring on Brazil!

Still possible that either the US gets first or Brazil gets second, although the announcers are all assuming neither of those things happen.

An own goal by a Col DF…what could possibly go wrong with his life? :o

AHAHAHA, you play this weak ass lineup against Costa Rica and get taken to the wood shed. They were penalties away from the semifinals at the last WC, the arrogance. Enjoy playing Brazil in the next round Colombia!

Although now that I post this Brazil will probably somehow finish second.

This is a great effing match. Really fun to watch. Its like watching a FM match with CR launching deadly counterattacks.

James has a wicked left foot
