Is there anything about that headline which is not completely accurate and factual (barring the adjective “heartless” which no news organization has actually used)? Why do you say it’s “sensational” and why does that headline make us sheep? It looks to me just like a statement of the facts. What do you theink the headline SHOULD be?
Actually, that is the only thing I saw the officer do that matched with training techniques. The 3 shot rule is, or was before 2000, the standard when bystanders wern’t at risk.
The cop should be in custody, and not on admin leave, AFAIC.
“We in the jury would have believed that the shooting was accidental had the defendant not stopped to reload. Twice.”
In another thread, it was pointed out that the accused–even accused police officers–have the right to be considered innocent until they’re proven guilty in a court.
of course not every accused person is allowed to roam free pending the guilty verdict. But you know that.
Interesting.
That sonovabitch cop!!! He’s beneath contempt as far as I’m concerned.
I’m ready to lead the lynch mob if required!!!
Plenty of innocent people not yet proven guilty are in custody.
Now, don’t hold back for our sake.
Hangin’s too good for him! Burnin’s too good for him!
(This sucker is going down and deserves it.)
He should be torn into little bitsy pieces and buried alive!
I’ll kill 'im myself! Sterrrrnnnnnn! Raarrrr!
Actually, I know there’s a thing called reasonable bail.
odd 'cause you didn’t mention that.
friedo, the whole thing was a major fuckup. I can’t know for sure, but both Kenny’s mom and sister swore to me that he was still breathing. Maybe not. All I know for sure is that heads rolled over it. Interesting sidenote, after a couple of months the family started getting “get out of town” notes. It was more or less traced to one or the other of the cops. We’d left by then. Oh, and it came out that the shooter had a history of violence, lied on his application and shouldn’t have made the force in the first place. Keep in mind too that this was twenty-five years ago and the family was Native. Shit happened.
And there’s a thing called misdirection. Directly from the news article:
Why should I have to mention something you already know, wring?
Czarcasm: So what? There’s also a thing called investigation. Should the cop be chucked into jail absent any charges?
And before anyone pretends I’m defending that cop, don’t.
The hell you aren’t. If anyone else had shot an unarmed man who was doing precisely what the shooter told him to do, that person would be have been arrested prior to any investigation, especially if there was film of the event.
Nice pretense. I really don’t care who you think you are with your lousy mind-reading skills.
What I am defending is a process. Your own quote shows that there’s a procedure involved in officer-involved shootings. And, yes, it’s been known to happen that officers have been charged after such investigations.
Again, you are wrong with your assessment of what I’m defending.
What the hey…
And the cops would know who that anyone else is exactly how? Oh, yes…investigation.
And the cops would know what was on the vidoe exaclty how? Oh, yes…investigation.
