Omaha police last night shot a cameraman dead who was filming a robbery-in-progress at a Wendy’s restaurant. I want to see them glorify that. Police overreach has been my main theme since joining this enlightened assembly. Since then, we have had the nightstick-choking of a black man, the unrest in Furgeson, and now this.
Tell me, again, how off-base I was. I know many of you will.
Why don’t you explain why the police acted recklessly in shooting the cameraman? Did he rush in to the middle of the gunfight? Did a police officer simply turn around and shoot the cameraman in the back seat of his cruiser?
It’s rather hard to agree or disagree with you on this incident when your post mostly conveys annoyance with the fact that not everyone has agreed with you in the past.
This sounds more like a BBQ Pit rant than a debate.
Why don’t you set forth an actual thesis to discuss. Otherwise, I will probably move it.
Man who places himself in police crossfire for a living gets hit by police crossfire.
Truly nobody could have seen this coming.
You’ve watched “Cops”, have you not ? That’s what their cameramen do; follow just behind the police. The robber had an air pistol, looked just like a gun but fires plastic bullets. The round that killed the Cops cameraman came from a police weapon. Over 30 police arrived at the scene. 30+shots were fired by the police, wounding the suspect. The Omaha police invited “Cops” to town to help show how efficient the Omaha police are. They did.
I disagree. It’s front-page news. Watch the evening news, tonight. My actual thesis ? Cops are overly aggressive and are becoming more so. Should this be in the comics section ?
I think it’s fascinating that we already see strong opinions on at least two sides when we know next to nothing at all about what happened.
Missed the point by a hundred miles.
Nope. The BBQ Pit.
You think cops are too aggressive. OK. That is not an argument or a discussion.
It might have gone in IMHO, (since you are only asking for opinions, not facts and logic), but with the hostility of the OP, it is going into The BBQ Pit.

Well, you haven’t seen fit to give us a “point” yet, so…
Since the OP couldn’t be bothered to provide a link.
This is odd. Since when does an Airsoft pistol make a sound and recoil like a real pistol?
Sad, just sad. My “hostility” ? I guess some must be of the opinion that police brutality and racial inequities are trivial matters. They are not. Put this thread wherever it comforts you. Yea, there too.
And yet you’ve still managed to say some stupid things. You are nothing if not reliable.
I have, sir. This: Cops and the powers of the police are run-amuck in the land free and the brave. I don’t know how to be more succinct. Perhaps the problem is on your end.
And you are a mod., or, something.
Are you suggesting that the cops aggressively shot the cameraman because he was black or something? Because otherwise your quips about “police brutality” or “racial inequalities” make absolutely no sense in this context.
since never. they don’t. figure it out
So has someone posted some diagrams? To me it would seem the COPS people would be in back of the police–thus I could see him being shot by the villain; but don’t understand how he could be shot by the police.
So what should the cops do when they show up at an robbery in progress and see a robber with a gun (that, so far as they know is real) pointed at the cashier? I mean, maybe the other 20 rounds didn’t need to be shot, but the first few did. It doesn’t matter if the gun was fake, it looked real, he threatened people with it, at least in my state, doing that gives other people the right defend themselves (or the person in danger) including using deadly force.
Witnesses are notoriously unreliable. But a cop sees a robber move his finger to the trigger and he’s not going to wait to see what happens next, it’s more important that he goes home to see his family than he waits to see if it’s actually a fake gun. If you bust in to a store with a gun, you give up the right to walk back out under your own power. Also, if the robber lives/ed, I’m willing to bet he’d be charged with the murder of the camera man.
