Copy and share this on your wall or you don't support my cause du jour!

I call this “High school gang - Follow the leader”. And I consider the followers as being weak minded - can’t do anything on their own.

I’ve seen some of these people ask on the internet what car would be most impressive if they bought it - seeking other people’s permission on what to buy. And even ask other people what color they should paint their house!

Seems they can’t do any thinking/decision making on their own?

Slacktivism. Doing low-effort, inconsequential things and patting yourself on the back for “doing something.”

My personal favorite:

Lol. Does it really have to be so binary like that?

Anyway, I’m still waiting for my horns to come in.

I hate that shit. I never share that stuff even when it’s for something I 100% support, first, because it’s pointless; second, because I have friends and relatives across the political spectrum and I have no wish to annoy those who might not be supporters. (When people do post a lot of political stuff I stop following them, regardless of whether it’s a candidate I support or not. (Except for my siblings. I have to keep following them to keep up on family news. But fortunately, the ones that post a lot are similar to me politically.)

“I know which of my friends will share!” or similar verbiage… Yes, because they’re assholes, too.

Passive/aggressive crap. It certainly lowers my opinion of people.

I like capybaras. :frowning:

This reminds me of the early days of the Internet, when e-mail petitions were really big. I recall one calling on the Taliban to stop oppressing women. Ha Ha! Yes, right, the Taliban were going to roll over and acquiesce to the Almighty E-Mail Petition.

The only thing that could redeem that message is if it was followed by a pin-up of a succubus.

Our national nightmare is semi-over:

One of two missing Toronto capybaras caught

Only in Canada do we explain what a critter looks like by reference to a beaver.

But what’s with the “beaver with short legs”? All beavers have short legs. Is there some Greater Huron Beaver, 4 feet tall, that I’ve never heard of?

In any event, now Leaffan’s Facebook feed can move onto more significant things, like whether Justin is due for a haircut.

Did this one still have fur? I’ve heard tell that some people shave their beavers.

well there’s your next facebook campaign right there.

“Save the hairy Beaver…
did you know that close to 75% of all beavers are now forcibly shaven?
If you truly care please share the plight of the gentle and noble creatures with your friends and family. Get them to research shaven and hairy Beavers online to find out more and to truly appreciate these wonders of nature in their natural form”

Dr. Beaver says thank you for your efforts.

With all due respect to Leaffan, and all who agree with the OP, here is a counterpoint.

I admit it. I share about Alzhiemer’s Disease, cancer and mental health. Because those have affected my life, recently, in pretty drastic ways . I don’t really care if people like or share, but I have had some conversations with people I know only vaguely, (or people I lost touch with) about their experiences with the same problems. One person I knew from grade 6 told me about his mother’s decline from Alzheimer’s disease. My aunt and I finally had a heart to heart about my cousin’s suicide. It opens the doors to conversations we might not have otherwise.

I don’t think it will change things on a wide scale, but sometimes the small personal interactions are worth the inane drivel. If you don’t share, I don’t care. I don’t do it most of the time.

I care about many causes but Alzhiemers disease, cancer, mental health, LGBTQ human rights, feminism, rape survivors and ethnic/racial/religious tolerance are pretty strong Have a conversation with me if you like. Or don’t. I won’t apologize for doing a small thing to start a conversation.

Before reading the OP I was blissfully unaware of the problems capybaras have with cancer. I blame Monsanto. :frowning:

Enfin!

The remaining capybara has been recovered. Wily zoo staff tricked her by opening a cage and she walked into it. (Either capybara are not very smart or she’s not the brightest one on the tree.)

And back at the zoo, the male Chewie has anxiously been awaiting the return of his breeding partners. He is described as “nonplussed” by the upheaval in his life.

Toronto park staff nab second missing capybara, finally outfoxing runaway rodents after five weeks

But sure to copy and paste this onto your walls, everyone!

I, for one, welcome that description, because until I saw that description, I thought they were talking about Chupacabras & not capybaras, so “ignorance fought”!

The most recent popular one is “Everyone changed their Facebook picture to a French flag when Paris was attacked or a rainbow flag after the Orlando shooting! Well why aren’t they changing to to an Iraqi flag after the Baghdad attacks, huh? Huh? Huh? RACIST!”

I avoid this by not changing my Facebook image to a flag ever. I suspect changing my Facebook image to a flag will not help anyone.

Do you know what gets my goat?

Chupacabras.

The one I’ve been getting is the one about how in three weeks (or whatever) FB is going to take all of your posts and begin to own them, so here is my notice of copyright or whatever. Ugh.

Hah! Ask me about nutrias. Go ahead, ask.

I’ll admit it - I asked the Doper collective about house colors. It worked out very well for me.
