I’ll be getting a new computer soon & I need to make a list of all my bookmarks to load onto it. I have a hunch that I don’t have to manually write all of them down. I looked in My Programs/ Mozilla & there is no such list. Where should I be looking?

Send to some folder you will remember.
On new computer, follow above, except pick Import, go to folder where it was saved.
If you’re keeping the old computer too, you might want to install something like the Foxmarks Bookmark Synchronizer .
Well actually, I’ll be getting a Mac and getting rid of this one. So I would need to burn my list to a disk and then transfer to Safari, right?
Actually there is a version of Firefox for Macintosh, as well as some other browsers other than Safari (Camino?) that some friends of mine really like (I don’t own a mac).
As for the transfer method, take your pic:
- Connect your two computers and transfer the files through the network;
- Burn to a CD / burn to a DVD;
- Use a USB pen;
- Use a Bookmark Synchronizer like the one I showed you above (will require you to install Firefox)
- Upload it to some free internet filestoring site (while there are many specific solutions for this, I just use GMail for this purpose, I attach a file to a new message and save it as a draft).
Thank you kindly for your suggestions. I know it sounds incredibly… stupid, but what I ended up doing is following Geoff’s instructions down to Organize Bookmarks and then taking screen shots & printing them out. I don’t mind re-entering the bookmarks manually; I just didn’t want to have to write them down manually. My hand goes numb if I have to write more than a few sentences.
And** joazito**, after talking to the Mac guy, I’m not sure I’ll even need Firefox. But who knows… I’ll be embarking on a great big adventure next weekend with the new machine.
You won’t need it, but you might want it. Safari vs. Firefox is largely a matter of taste (both are free, and both work pretty well).
