In this thread ( http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?threadid=78189 ) I wanted to quote a response to the OP that Cecil answered in one of his books, but is not in the archives. What would have been the appropriate way to do this? Could I have typed in the column?
Not to worry, curwin, I’m sure that everyone that posts here owns the Straight Dope books. Just mentione the title and page number.
Like other copyright material, short quotes (attributed) are fine.
If you want permission to reprint most of or all of a column elsewhere, please email THE READER for permission. These are usually forthcoming as long as the source is attributed and the intentions are honest.
