Cordless phone/wireless network interference?

I’m going to be installing a wireless network (802.11g) in my home, but I have heard that sometimes a 2.4GHz cordless phone in the house can interfere with the speed and/or connectivity of the network.

Has anyone here experienced this problem? Is it a major problem or are there workarounds?

Thanks.

Bump.

Hasn’t anybody had problems with this, or is it just needless worrying?

I have observed this problem on one occasion, in my home wireless network. It manifested as slowness.

I wouldn’t sweat it, if I were you - are there people in your home who spend hours on the phone?

Should you experience problems, there are two things to try:

  1. Switch wireless from default channel 6 to 11, or 1.

  2. Buy a 900mhz cordless phone, and have whomever is using the 2.4g phone while you’re having problems trade for the 900mhz for the duration.

  3. Unplug the microwave - it too can cause some interference with both 2.4g phone and wireless

We have a cordless network (4 nodes) and 3 2.4 Ghz telephones. Have never had a problem.
