Corner of 5th Ave. and 22nd St. in NYC?

There’s a They Might Be Giants song that contains the following lyrics:

It turns out that this clock is broken, and wacky hijinks ensue. Anyway, I was idly wondering the other day, is there a big clock sticking out of the side of a building at the corner of 5th Ave. and 22nd St.? And if so, is it actually broken? And if not, was it ever?

It’s probably this one, across from the Flatiron Building at 22nd and 5th.

I don’t know if it’s broken or not, though.

It’s actually the clock on the corner of the Albert Building.

Picture.

It was indeed stopped for years, but it is running again now.

Four minutes. This is one of the reasons I love this place.

Actually ten - four minutes for an answer, ten for the correct one.

You guys are the best. THE BEST. I am going to tell MrWhatsit “I told you so,” because he’s actually the one that was pondering this question, and I said, “I’ll ask on the SDMB, someone will have the answer within half a day.” I should have bet money on it.

More info if you need it.

“This is a song about a clock that doesn’t fucking work.”

Still awesome. I was typing while you were posting. Should have previewed.

I like my clock better. :frowning:

It is certainly prettier.

Probably never stopped, either.

This Google Street View Link will even put you right in the middle of the intersection with a 360 view.
