Age-Adjusted Rates of COVID-19-Associated Hospitalizations by Vaccination Status in Adults Ages ≥18 Years, January–December 2021 (CDC)
My bold
Once again, Texas is off the chart-- when they (we) bother to show up at all. I don’t understand why that is.
Don’t get comfortable:
354,904,793 total cases
5,622,311 dead
281,820,226 recovered
In the US:
72,958,690 total cases
891,595 dead
44,828,957 recovered
Yesterday’s numbers for comparison:
Once is chance, twice is odd, three times is habit. You kids are going to be dealing with this long after I die of old age.
WOW!
For the first time in it seems like forever, the Johns Hopkins Coronavirus site lists no states with new daily reported COVID case (7-day averaged) record highs from yesterday. None of the states reported record highs for January 24. A couple did for the 23rd. Most states actually reported hitting their record high around January 7, although many only hit their high around last weekend. But today, nothing. That’s the first step showing that the surge is in retreat. Cases in the US are still down from our record high at the beginning of the month.
Where is the map you’re looking at? You mentioned one with blue states before? I’ve found the John’s Hopkins website, but I’m apparently missing the right link to find a simple map instead of a place where I input state names to get numbers.
The following comes with the warning: too early to tell if it will work inside humans, more research is needed, etc.
I will keep track, but I’m really curious about how the “law and order” news and the very conservative and anti-pot groups will deal with this one.
It’s under “Data Visualizations”
There’s also a page with data from each state:
Ah! Thanks!
Covid-19 Deaths Top 2,100 a Day, Highest in Nearly a Year
The seven-day average for newly reported Covid-19 deaths reached 2,188 a day by Monday, up about 1,000 from daily death counts two months ago
The U.S. saw the highest numbers of deaths in the pandemic about a year ago, before vaccines were widely available, when the daily average reached 3,400. More recently, the Delta variant triggered a peak just above 2,100 in late September.
But deaths are a lagging indicator. They may continue to rise for a few weeks, even as case counts decline.
CBD is the “good” part of marijuana. A lot of conservatives are all for it. Mind you, that will probably vary based on region.
359,130,595 total cases
5,634,043 dead
284,573,241 recovered
In the US:
73,449,185 total cases
894,880 dead
45,119,980 recovered

Here’s some info:
OK. Help me understand what I’m looking at. I see a bunch of states with numbers (below the colored map, which is about 3/5 blue and 2/5 pink for me) of daily increases of exactly 100.0% (Including Illinois, which is just barely pink on the map, and Massachusetts, which is barely blue.) Which makes no sense to me. I assume that is some weird dummy data. Secondly, I see a bunch of states with daily increases of more than 100%, including Arizona at a -270% increase (??!), yet its color on the map is a medium pink. Am I just reading it wrong?
Here’s some news:
363,062,293 total cases
5,645,884 dead
286,901,803 recovered
In the US:
74,176,403 total cases
898,680 dead
45,421,318 recovered

There was a report a while back that the same thing happened in Alabama. Really, it would not surprise me at all if the population of the US as a whole went down the last two years.
Moderna news:
I want mine!
