Coronavirus Information, Maps, Trackers

Quoting:

SOME ARE WINNING - SOME ARE NOT
WHICH COUNTRIES DO BEST IN BEATING COVID-19?

Shows curves for each country, sorts into three categories:
COUNTRIES BEATING COVID-19
COUNTRIES THAT ARE NEARLY THERE
COUNTRIES THAT NEED TO TAKE ACTION

As I post, this site was last updated May 4.

I hope all is well soon .

Assuming the data is (are?) accurate, I like this county-level map better than any of the others I’ve seen, including the Johns Hopkins which is too close to monochromatic:

It’s an interesting approach, to use the school-opening standard used here in Minnesota, and apply it to the whole country. One wonders if Minnesota would have applied different standards if we were looking more like some of the rougher states. Whatever the case, it ends up doing a nice job of showing where the hotspots are.

I wonder why we don’t hear more about Mississippi?

North Carolina and its Democratic governor clearly deserve props for standing out in that region.‬

I like that map a lot, although as I watch my state’s numbers go up here in the NE, I would prefer more differentiation below 10/10K. That feels way too high to me for “in person learning”, too.

Good point: one more low-end color would be good (maybe just white?), and would provide some differentiation in the Northeast.

MIT is offering a course on covid. Only registered students can ask questions or get homework graded, but anyone can watch in real time or view the recorded lectures.

Tuesday 11:30-12:30 eastern time. I watched the first lecture, which was very good. A friend watched 2 & 3, and said they were a little more technical than he really wanted. Next lecture features Anthony Fauci, and I expect that will be generally accessible.

Covid-19 Vaccination Tracker

I don’t think this is paywalled

You can type in your age, and select your sex and comorbidities, and get an estimate of your risk.

Some time back, President Biden promised to ship half a billion vaccine doses to developing countries. Recently (yesterday, I think) he doubled that promise to a full billion. Does anyone know of a site that tracks how many of these have been delivered so far? I’d prefer a report of how many to each country, but just the total will do if that’s all that’s available.

I thought he had directed a lot of it to COVAX, so there wouldn’t be any country explicitly attached to those ones.

I’m also interested in that data, if anyone finds it.

I couldn’t think of a distinctive enough term to google for this info, but your mention of COVAX did the trick. I found this page from the Kaiser Family Foundation:
