For background, the rule originated many years ago when someone changed another poster’s quote in a way that he believed made him look antisemitic. He threatened to bring legal action and was of course immediately bounced. However, we decided to make a general prohibition on changing the contents of a quotebox, outside of normal editing.
Look, no one is going to get banned over an inadvertent or non-malicious change. However, we may issue notes just as a reminder of the general policy.
