Cortana, shut the fuck up!

I obviously want to be able to do a Google Search with voice recognition. But I do not need Cortana reading the results to me. Why would anyone, sitting at the computer, want this? Anyway I’ve been searching for half an hour to try and find out how to turn this off. I found how to turn Cortana off completely, just click the button to do so in Settings. I turned all of them off. It didn’t work even after restarting. I found a suggestion on a Microsoft website where their guy suggested in a forum to turn the volume down. What if I’m listening to music, you motherless fuck (been rewatching the Sopranos). I found out how to turn off Narrator, which doesn’t work because it’s something completely different.

I can’t beleive this is hard to do, but I really find it hard to believe there are no search results about this. I can’t be the only one who hates this. I’ve searched for turn off Cortana voice, stop Cortana from talking, from speaking, from reading, from reading out loud, turn Cortana off for Google search results, and yes, Cortana shut the fuck up!

BTW, what happened, in the lower right corner for notifications, to turn on quiet hours?

Have you asked Cortana itself how to turn off its voice?

Also, if you use Chrome as your default browser, I understand there is an extension for Chrome called Chrometana, which might possibly have the option you are looking for.

to late to edit, so ETA-

the other day I found how to create a new registry entry to turn it off. That didn’t work, but maybe I did it wrong

Just tried the first, it just takes me to settings. Already tried the second

I think if you change the default browser from Bing to Google, that might solve your problem.
