Cosby doing town halls

There will be, whether you like it or not.

Cosby doing town halls**

Does anyone think that this thread could use a better title?

That was my guess, too…his lawyers must have told him to do it.
But as I thought about it, I couldn’t see how it would work.
Can somebody with a legal background explain?

Cosby has survived the criminal trial, but he’s still very vulnerable to civil cases.
In civil, the standard of proof is lower…But I assume that the case is, like the criminal case, still restricted to the facts from the time of the assault.

How would Cosby’s defense benefit from a town hall meeting today , when the act was committed 20 years ago?

He hasn’t actually been convicted yet, so why must we treat him like a criminal? He could be completely innocent, you know… He might not have done any of that…

Yeah. Because, you know, when 40 fucking people accuse someone of sexually assaulting them, and that person admits to doing exactly what they accuse him of doing on occasion, and says, “They didn’t say to stop” as though that qualifies as an excuse when they’re on tranquilizers, it’s clear that maybe they didn’t have anything to do with it.

At the least it muddies the waters, and doubt is an accused’s best friend. And at best makes prosecutors shy away from forcing a case when millions seem to be on his side, and willing to cry ‘persecution’.

It was terrifying, and humbling, to be falsely accused of such awful things, awful things I would never do; but I resolved not to let it get to me, and to forgive, as Christ would, these confused and misguided [del]gold-digging tramps[/del] poor sweet ladies, but more than that, to present my side of the story to the great American Public, so they can judge fairly and squarely, my innocence. I was vindicated once, but I must make restitution by presenting what happened to me, explain how our once-great judicial system is broken, and how an innocent person ought to avoid false accusations [del]from gold-digging bitches[/del].
By explaining how to avoid even the appearance of impropriety, as I alas in my naivety inadvertently did not, if I can save but one soul from the hell of shame and horror I have been trapped in by [del]these gold-digging skanks[/del] sheer dumb bad luck, it will have been worth while.”

:sunglasses: We could probably start another thread with suggestions.

He hasn’t been acquitted yet either. And who is suggesting he be treated like a criminal anyway? He’s being treated like a pariah, and if the OP is correct that he wants to advise people on how to avoid being accused of sexual assault then maybe he deserves that treatment.

This is the 60th worst thing he’s ever done!

So when is his first town hall meeting scheduled for and where?

Having seen the scenes of Congressional town halls, I can only imagine how exciting Bill’s would be.

On a related note; an article where R-Kelly calls Bill Cosby a pervert.

The best part of that article is where it states “the proof is in the pudding”

I can’t believe he doesn’t have a single close friend who would look at this and say, “dude, WTF are you thinking?”
