I have SB too, what’s your lesion? (I’m an L3-5)

Dude, you have no idea how shocked I was to see my nick as a thread! I was like, “Uh-oh. What did I do? This isn’t even the Pit!”. chuckle

And ya know, I can’t even remember off the bat what my lesion is. I’m a naughty, naughty disabled person! J…something. I think.

I have a decent amount of sensation in the lower half of my body, although my ankles are flail & I can’t feel my feet. Had the usual tibia/hip/hamstring/foot work when I was a kid, as well as Harringto rod surgery for scoliosis when I was 13, heading towards 14.

Also have (had?) Chiari malformation. They inserted a shunt when I was a newborn, simply as a precautionary measure. It’s now almost 24 years later and it’s never been revised - I’ve never developed hydrocephaly.

I did, however, start getting grande mal seizures when I was 18, seemingly out of nowhere. My pediatric neurologist, who was consulted for the hell of it, suggested that perhaps my brain had grown around the shunt and was occasionally irritated by it, 'causing the seizures. I’m on meds, though, so I haven’t had a seizure in a couple years.

My e-mail’s in my profile if you’d like to discuss more, yeah? Cool.
