There’s a comic convention in town at the end of the month (happens every year, and every year I say I should go, and my cousin says she should come down and go and we never do…). I’m not a huge comics person, but I figure it ought to be fun. C’mon, Leonard Nimoy will be here, so why not see how I could close I can get to him?
Well BF suggested we do a little cosplay. I’ve never done it, but wandering around in costume is nothing new to me as a former LARPer, neither is making costumes. His idea? Jet Girl for me, Kesslee for him (bonus, Malcolm McDowell will be there too!). Well now I’m puzzled, there aren’t too many pics of Jet Girl to be found (I’m hitting the vid store to see if they have a copy of Tank Girl). I am somewhat intrigued by this look though but I was wondering if anyone had any other images of Jet they might share or suggestions on what to wear.
Also, any tips on cosplay, or heck any interesting tales of your own forays into it would be great. I’m really looking forward to this one.
Yeah, it’s great.
So, will you be posting pictures of yourself in costume?

The difference between Tank Girl and Jet Girl, was Tank Girl had a severe blonde haircut and wore a soldier’s helmet, while Jet Girl had shoulder length dark hair and a flying helmet. I think she always wore black, and usually a mini skirt (Tank Girl wore military green).
Such are my vague memories of Deadline comic.
Dark hair, pilot hat, engine grease as make-up. The rest is superfluous.
Glasses, too. Jet Girl was smart.
I might be able to arrange that.
Got glasses, figured snug jeans and a tank top, maybe a hip flask or something… as you say grease marks (or shoe polish!). Need a flying helmet!
Make one. Get some leather or pleather and use thiscoif pattern. I used it for mine, works like a charm. Just add a buckle to one side. ETA- the tapered bit of the middle piece goes in the nape of the neck.
Thank you! I was wondering if I could find a pattern to make it with, I have some brown cotton I can use (it’s only for one day, I don’t know if I’d ever wear it again so probably not going to buy pleather/leather).
I would suggest you get some goggles to go with the flying helmet, to really sell it. I’m sure you can find something cheap or ready to hand.
