Could I get Satellite Radio in Australia?

As far as I can tell, we don’t have satellite radio here in Australia- certainly, I’m not aware of Sirius or XM equipment available for sale here (and if it was, we’d probably sell it at work or at least be aware of it).

But, I have wondered: What if I went to the US and bought a Sirius or XM satellite radio receiver, and set up an account (using a friend’s address or something) and paid the appropriate fees… would I be able to use the radio (ie receive broadcasts) here in Australia, or would I be listening to static a lot?

You can listen with a high speed internet connection and US $7.95/month.

I don’t think so. You’re on the other side of the world (literally), and the satellite that’s beaming down XM and/or Sirius content to us can’t wrap the signal around the Earth and beam it to the other hemisphere.
