I Doubt it…
For the longest time, I’ve been battling Murphy’s Law, nothing has ever gone right for me, disappointment and trouble was my lot in life, I always expected the worst, and was never dissapointed.
However, as of last week, I’ve been noticing a fundamental shift in my luck, last week, I found the replacement car for my old '07 Saturn Ion that I had grown sick and tired of, and that i had serious trust/confidence issues with (it had been the victim of five accidents in it’s short life), I always told myself that when I found the right car, I’d trade out of the Ion, as it was merely a stopgap car to replace my dying '02 Dodge Neon…
The car in question?
A 2007 Sage Green 3 door hatchback VW Rabbit with the 2.5L five cylinder engine and five speed manual, one owner, clean carfax, dealer maintained with all the records
The Rabbit felt, sounded and drove like it was brand new, it was impossible to tell that it had 61K on the odo, it looked practically new (aside from a couple minor dings in the paint, inevitable for a car of that age/mileage), and it felt right, I wanted it immediately, it was “The One”, so I had the dealer work the numbers, knowing that it’d be out of the price cap I set for myself…
I was expecting payments to be beyond my price cap, but it was only $10 more a month than I was paying on the Ion, I had 3 years left on the Ion loan, and the loan for the Rabbit was for 5 years, so it only set me back two years for a safer, much more solid and far more fun to drive car, one that I ENJOY driving and makes me happy, it’s my first car with cruise control, power windows, and four wheel disc brakes (my other cars were always front disc and rear drum), it even has a FULL SIZE spare tire in the hatch, no horrible insipid temporary “donut” spare
I was expecting insurance to skyrocket in price, nope, about $90 more than I was paying for the year, mainly due to the Rabbit having a higher MSRP and retaining it’s value better
I went to register it this morning, expecting to get hit with a nasty Excise Tax bill, nope, it cost me a whopping $15 to register it and transfer my existing plates over, and next year it’ll cost about $70 to register, as cheap as Maine goes, due to it being an '07
So far, so good, I still can’t belive things are working in my favour so far
it’s even happening at work, so far every printer I’ve worked on this week, printers that are so frustrating that I want to smash them to itty-bitty pieces, and then jump up and down on the pieces until I can think of something better to do, have worked perfectly once I dropped in the repair parts, no adjustments or delicate tweaking, just drop in the repair parts and go, and these are printers that are notoriously unreliable
It just doesn’t “feel” right to me, things going this well and smoothly for me, something has to go wrong, it’s just not normal, things going this smoothly and well can only mean I’m due for one MAJOR bout of misfortune in the near future
My luck couldn’t be changing for the better, could it? that never happens, at least not to me…
I anxiously await the inevitable “luck” smackdown I’m so overdue for…
Something big and bad is heading my way, I know it, it’s inevitable…
I’m dreading the results…
