Who’s JFK?
Jesus Farking Krist.
or a typo.
Could be either.
I was afraid his brain worm had come out as a fully independent sentient creature. Sorta like the chest poppers in Alien. But the worm decided to name itself “JFK” in hopes of being seen as more intelligent and respectable than RFK junior is.
Of course, and the US government as a whole too. The fact that this moron went after a BRAND instead of mentioning the active ingredient in Tylenol (and other medicine) Acetaminophen is the dumbest part of this whole thing.
This a little off topic, but we know what RFK jr. is.
The county I work for, and have for 33 years opened up the bus barns when the first COVID vax came out. Ya see, these are drive through bays. 3 of them each big enough for a bus. Open doors on both ends, roll down the window, put your arm on the door and Bob’s your uncle. Those 3 bus bays had 6 drive in and out out inoculation stations. I never got out of my car.
We got on it and did it right. 'Course we are a blue county.

Can anyone explain this? These two stories posted within hours of each other say the opposite things.
No idea, but Trump has never been known for consistency.
This Axios article sums up his similar dissonance regarding the Covid vaccines:
Trump tries to have it both ways on COVID vaccines

On another note, what is up with that photo in the Reuters article?!
People: “I don’t trust this vaccine, and I did my own research and --”
Medical Editor: “Ooh, where? What lab?”
Them: “?”
ME: “Who was the PI? Anyone I’ve heard of?” (principal investigator)
Them: “what I mean is…”
ME: “Was the peer review process single or double blind? Where can I read your work?”
Re last post, opposition to vaccines has always been a big problem:
You would like to hope that in ~150s years of dedication to public education some semblance of scientific thinking would have infected more than a tiny minority of the population.
You would so hope in vain.
Trump is arranging things so he can blame RFK Jr if there is a big disease outbreak, and pat himself on his back for nominating RFK Jr if there is no disaster.
Best thing I’ve seen today!
I don’t believe in patting myself on the back for being a member of a tiny enlightened minority.
23 percent of American adults are up to date on their vaccines. That’s not a tiny minority. And I’m guessing that roughly half of the remaining 77 percent probably aren’t out of compliance due to anti-science attitudes, but because inconsistent record-keeping means knowing their full vaccine status is confusing. My doctor’s office can give out some vaccines but not others. And her computer system does not fully integrate with that of the pharmacies. So my family medicine doc, an Ivy League professor, will have to waste time next month hand-entering that I got a COVID booster (and possibly a flu shot, if I get that from an outside pharmacist). And she gets no automatic warning that, say, I need a tetanus booster.
Also, RFK Jr’s thinking, while quite wrong, does have “some semblance of scientific thinking.” He is correct that vaccines are hardly ever tested against placebo, and that this is generally the best way to test a new pharmaceutical. One has to get into relative scientific details to know why it would usually be unethical to test a vaccine against placebo.
P.S. Going all the way back. Edward Jenner didn’t test his new smallpox vaccine against nothing. He tested the vaccine against vaccine plus the standard of care of the day, variolation. I mention this because anti-vaxxers probably believe, with sincerity, that newer vaccines are inferior, but of course they would have given their children the tried and true original.
It’s not so much about trump but about the news media. Neither story mentions the quotes from the other one. Not good, but what is?
Social media and now AI chatbots are pretty much undermining any value of education by basically making everything ‘post-truth’. Or as Karl Rove (allegedly) said:
“We’re an empire now, and when we act, we create our own reality. And while you’re studying that reality – judiciously, as you will – we’ll act again, creating other new realities, which you can study too, and that’s how things will sort out. We’re history’s actors . . . and you, all of you, will be left to just study what we do.”
Stranger
And the idiot acting CDC director is up for an award - gold star stupid.
That’s not just stupid…
That’s dangerous. That’s going to result in additional deaths. That’s medical malpractice.
US life expectancy is currently 79.61 years. (48th place in the world).
It will probably take a little while, but I would guess that if this bullshit continues, in a decade the US will likely drop to around 73 years, and be at the level of Syria and Venezuela. (120th place)
I’m convinced that the main reason Trump appointed RFK Jr. to this position was simply to piss off the libs. It’s not like he or most of the people in his administration give a shit about health and human services.
That’s all vaccines. I am quite certain I am 77% who don’t have them all, their study includes HPV questions and those vaccines/recommendations didn’t exist when they would have been for me. And I quite frankly don’t have a huge incentive to go out and get that now. I’m fairly certain things like tetanus are up to date, but I usually rely on the doctor to tell me I’m about due.
