Serkis could be nominated. Probably should be too. For anyone who didn’t know, Jon Voight doesn’t actually look like Howard Cosell. He was nominated because of his voice acting and makeup job. Same principal. The effects team should have a separate nomination.
Will he be nominated? Heck, no. The academy is traditionally a little short-sighted. Tron couldn’t be nominated for effects because the FX team cheated and used computers. It took the academy years to recognize computer-based effects ( I believe The Abyss was 7 years later, but don’t quote me).
Among the group of actesses nominated that year, her performance recieved the most votes, making her the most popular in that context.
By giving a wonderful performance?
What does that have to do with how well recieved her performance was among the Academy? Her performance was the most popular (generally highly regarded and/or liked) among voting Academy members
Agreed. And by doing so, they create a popular concensus as to the best performance, picture, etc.
Hell, they’re ALL just pixels on a screen to me. Robert DeNiro in the movies, Meryl Streep in the movies, Gollum in the movies, no difference. Whether the pixels were created by one person or ten, just technical stuff.
